May Fly on the Wall

Welcome to a Fly on the Wall group post. Today 13 bloggers are inviting you to catch a glimpse of what you’d see if you were a fly on the wall in our homes. Come on in and buzz around my house.

Buzz around, see what you think, then click on these links for a peek into some other homes:

First off, this is what I have probably looked like this past month -

And the house still looks a little like this -

Now on to what you might have heard!

The Hubby – What does that sign say? Alvin Heights???

Me – OMGosh! You should realllly wear your glasses! It says ASIA KITCHEN!!!!

We started watching the North America series on Discovery Channel. At one point it shows a bobcat trying to catch a mole.

Colin (hysterically laughing) – LOOK!!! The bobcat is playing Whack – a – Mole!!!!!

Afterward the bobcat starts playing with the dead mole.

We were watching another episode of North America, this one with mountain goats, the other night. The little baby mountain goat was too scared to cross the river.

Colin – Mommy, sometimes you just have to get over your fears.

The narrator – Sometimes you just have to get over your fears.

Colin – HEY!! He copied me!!!!!

Colin – I am so hungry I can feel the stomach acid eating away at my insides. (He’s 6, BTW….)

The day the movers came it was raining. No, it wasn’t just raining, it was a mini monsoon!! Naturally….

Anyway, the movers only really had one choice when I came to unloading our stuff. They were going to have to block the street for a little while.

Now, that being said, this is NOT a main thoroughfare. It is NOT a dead end street. It is a VERY small, quiet, neighborhood street. There MIGHT be 20 houses on it but I doubt it.

So, the movers put out the orange triangle things and the fun begins.

Most people calmly turned around went another way.

Some did NOT.

One “lady” (and I use the term VERY loosely) – ***BEEEEEEEEEEEP BEEEEEEEEEEEP BEEEEEEEEEEEEEP*** (She is just laying on that horn for all it’s worth like the movers are just going to drop our couch and move out of her way.)

Me – So sorry! But you will have to go around!

The “lady” – What the !#$%??? Why the !#$% did you block the road? I go down this !#$%ing street everyday!

Me – Well, today you will just have to turn around and go another way. Sorry.

The “lady” – ***BEEEEEEEEEEEEP BEEEEEEEEEEEP BEEEEEEEEEP*** (She then throws trash out of her window.) You are a !#$%ing @#$%^&!

She continues on in that way until she turns around.

I think what ticked me off most was her littering!! There was just no call for that! LOL

Deanna has gone on a diet. Now first let me say that I do NOT condone it…. I have been trying and trying and trying to tell her to just cut out the junk, add more fruits and veggies and exercise more… She is a teenage girl so you can probably figure out how far I got with that…

She and Joshua have a bet going. If she wins (by staying on the diet 3 weeks) she gets to shoot him with an air soft gun. If she cheats on the diet she has to buy Joshua a game.

Can I just say that I am now sick to death of Joshua running to me and asking if XYZ is OK for her to eat?????? OH MY GOSH!!!  I swear he must ask me 10 times a day!!!!

Thankfully there is just one more week to go!! I hope we can all get through it without taping Joshua’s mouth shut!! LOL

If you’ve been following along you know that we spent 2 weeks in 2 hotel rooms…. SIGH….

Joshua – Oh, no!!! Dad is going down to the other room to use the bathroom! I was getting ready to go down there and play a game. I guess I’ll just have to wait now.

The next day The Hubby went back down to the 2nd room…. As he came out of the bathroom Joshua says, “It stinks in here,” in a very depressed tone. LOL

One day the hotel decided to check the fire alarms in the rooms. Over and over and over again. We were about ready to hurt someone by the time it was over.

One day (still while staying at the hotel) Joshua comes up from the vending machines.

Joshua – I am NEVER getting on that elevator again! I swear it’s possessed! It made this awful noise!

He then tried to imitate it.

The next day I talk him into going down to the laundry with me.

He was right. The elevator was DEFINITELY possessed. It took a few days before I could be convinced to ride on it again…. It sounded like the elevator from hell!!!!

I realized yesterday that I made a BIG mistake in my sewing room/library….. I accidentally covered all the outlets with bookshelves!!!!

I was in a bit of a panic for a little while until I saw that if I pulled one of the shelves out just a tiny bit, I could fit my hand behind there and reach an outlet. SHEW!!!

Some days I think my brain is on vacation. I just wish it would take the rest of me with it!!!!

The Hubby was going down the stairs the other night and we hear – OUCH!! What the HE&&???

Colin – My booby trap worked!!!

The Hubby – I hate Legos.

And now for some of my favorite LOLCats! ;)

As usual I pretty much forgot a lot of the stuff that happened. I even added stuff to my iPhone this time but instead of writing what happened I left myself keywords…. With my memory that didn’t help very much…. LOL I still can’t remember what “wainbows” means!!!

My Goodness…..

It’s been a whole week since my last post!! MY GOODNESS!!!! I am SO sorry!!! It’s been crazy and hectic around here. I am still unpacking… I am working on my sewing room/library. That’s about all that’s left except for figuring out where to put some little things. I have most of MY books put up but there are still boxes and boxes and BOXES of the kids’ books. YILES!!!!!!

I have also been fighting yet another ear infection. MY GOODNESS!!!!! What is up with that????? And of course, we are in between insurance, again…. So I have just had to suck it up and deal with it. Thankfully it seems to be getting better now.

I’ve been thinking a lot about what my first sewing project ought to be once I get up and running again. I am in desperate need of some new clothes so I think the first few things will actually be for ME!!! LOL

I have been thinking a lot about this pattern-

Simplicity 2947

It looks SOOOO comfy and perfect for summer!!!

I wish I could remember what other patterns I have. They are still buried in a box somewhere.  MY GOODNESS!!!!

I think I am going to keep an eye on the Joann’s ads. I want some more patterns!! Like these…..

OH!! I got a couple of books for Mother’s Day!! Right now I am almost finished with Ken Follett’s Fall of Giants. MY GOODNESS!!! It is sooooo good!! I have never read anything by Ken Follett before and if this book is anything to go by then I have seriously been missing out. I wish I had the next in the series!!!

The Hubby got me Dan Brown’s Inferno!!!! I should be starting it tomorrow! I just LOVE his Robert Langdon series and have been reading it from the beginning.

Joshua got me Charlaine Harris’s Dead Ever After. It is the very last Sookie Stackhouse book!!! MY GOODNESS!!!! WAH!!! It was a great ending to an awesome series and I just don’t know what I am going to do without any more!!! WAH!!!!!!!

Welcome to Take One of May’s Secret Subject Swaps. This week, 12 brave bloggers picked a secret subject for someone else and were assigned a secret subject to interpret in their own style. Today we are all simultaneously divulging our topics and submitting our posts.

Your “Secret Subject” is:

You’ve just received a call-you’ve won the trip of your dreams!  Describe what it would be-where you’d want to go, what you’d want to do, and who’d you want to do it with.  Use your imagination-anything can be possible here!

It was submitted by: http://sadderbutwiser.wordpress.com/

WOW!!! I won a trip!!! SOOOOO COOOOOOL!!!!! The Hubby and I have NEVER been on a real vacation. NEVER!!!! We taken a day trip here and there but that is it. :/

I LOOOOVE to travel to new places. I LOOOOOVE seeing new things.

My absolute DREAM trip would be a couple of months visiting pretty much every European nation. I would see absolutely everything that I could. Castles, historical sites, villages, big cities. EVERYTHING!!!!!

I hope this trip comes with some money, too… I would want TONS of souvenirs!!! And not the cheap touristy stuff!!!!! ;)

AND I would take the whole family. Yes, I do dream of getting away for a bit without the kids but I know myself… I wouldn’t have as good a time without them as I would have experiencing everything with them.

I think I will go be depressed now. There’s no way my dream vacation will EVER happen. Well, unless I win the lottery… but that would mean I would have to actually play the lottery…. LOL

Don’t forget to check out all the amazing bloggers that are taking part in the Secret Subject Swap!!! I <3 them all!!!!!!

We are alive!!! Buried alive in boxes, that is….. LOL

I have a little rant coming up….

The movers…. ARGH!!!! They managed to ruin 3 of my book shelves, break The Hubby’s desk and lose one of The Hubby’s DVD shelves…. AND we can’t do a thing about it because they were all made of pressboard. Nice…. ARGH!!!!!!

Not only that BUT they were REALLY late, like a whole DAY late. I started getting those Funny Farm feelings again….

When the movers finally got here they were really nice and seemed very horrified that so many of my shelves were destroyed… They blamed it on other guys. I guess it could have been. At least 3 different sets of people handled our belongings. SIGH….

Then the company tried to charge The Hubby’s boss too much. When The Hubby signed the papers on moving day, there were no charges listed, just a documentation of our stuff. Then miraculously the charges showed up afterward. We have the original set of papers to prove this. Just CRAZY!!!!

Some advice, if you are hiring movers go with a BIG company. One that has been in business for many, many, many years. Stay away from the small, recently in business guys. I usually don’t say that. I am all about small businesses but I think this is one of those times when you just have to go with the established, good reputation guys.

SIGH…. I need new shelves. I think The Hubby is going to commandeer one of book shelves. SIGH…..

On the bright side (you always need to find one), we are loving the house and the city. There are definitely some rooms that need painted (the kitchen is neon green) and I am itching to get started on that but I need some order in the house first! Wish me luck! ;)

The downstairs bathroom!

This house has 1 bed and 1 bath downstairs! Then there are 2 beds and 2 baths upstairs! Usually we would want a 4 bedroom house BUT the bedrooms here are very nicely sized so 3 bedrooms are plenty! That also leaves me with a sewing studio/library! LOL

We just got word that the movers should be here TOMORROW!!!! WOOOOO HOOOOOO!!!!! I can’t wait to get moved in!!

Now, there is definitely some painting that needs to be done but that will have to be done after we have moved in! YILES!!!!

World's Fair Park 031

I think we should all take a look at ourselves, our lives… Are we giving hate, bigotry or indifference a place??? We should be ever vigilant against all 3.

Shouldn’t freedom be for all? Is it really freedom if we pick and chose who should have it and who should not???

World's Fair Park 020

In our quest to do all things free in Knoxville while trying to keep the cabin fever at bay, we went to the World’s Fair Park yesterday. We started out TRYING to go to the McClung museum on the UT campus…. Yeah, THAT was an experience! We couldn’t find parking ANYWHERE!! Well, there was that one parking lot about 5 blocks from the museum but there was no way I was going to get the kids to hike 5 blocks and then walk through the whole museum…. LOL Soooo, we decided to hit the World’s Fair Park. :)

World's Fair Park 006

We went up to the observation deck in the Sunsphere. Some of us thought that was really cool and others (Joshua and Deanna) were freaked out by being that high in the air…. Now, these are the kids that rode every roller coaster Kings Dominion has to offer, but are afraid of the Sunsphere….. I don’t get it. LOL

Oh, look!! It’s a picture of Deanna!! Hee hee hee hee! ;)

The park also has a nice playground that the kids enjoyed. Even Deanna. ;)

World's Fair Park 063

As the day wore on it got quite warm! The only thing to do was to hit the fountains! LOL

But remember!

World's Fair Park 008

There’s another aspect to the park that I will be talking about tomorrow. I think it warrant its own post.

We are SUPPOSED to hear something about the house today! Wish us luck!!!

Cabin Fever

Cabin fever, we have it!!!!

They still haven’t moved our 2nd room closer to this one. Apparently they only have so many double rooms. SIGH….. At least there’s an elevator. LOL

Here are some of the things we have done this week to try to keep the cabin fever at bay!

Park April 2013

On Tuesday we went to a park that is near the house we are trying to get. We put in an application yesterday. Wish us luck!!!!!

This park was great. Not only did it have a great playground, it also had these huge rocks to climb all over. Better still, the park is right beside a library and a recreation center!! WOOO HOOO!!!!

Art Museum 010 Art Museum 002

This morning we went to the art museum. Like Richmond’s, it was free. Unlike Richmond’s, it was TINY!!! They have none of the masters but they still had some lovely pieces.

Art Museum 025

After the art museum we went across the street to a very cool park. It is one of the largest wooden parks that I have ever seen! Even the big kids got into it! LOL ;)

I think we are in for it this weekend, though…. Hopefully we can keep finding new stuff to do to keep from going completely stark, raving mad!!! LOL  There’s only so much TV the kids can watch (especially with only PBS and Cartoon Network) and only so many video games they can play…. They kept out the 2 DSs, 1 PS3, 1 PS2 and the PSP. Right now one is playing PS2 down in the 2nd room while one is reading, 1 is playing a Legos game on my iPhone and the other is playing a spelling game on my Nook in this room! LOL  I don’t know WHAT we would do without all of the gadgets!! I brought a crate of books for myself! ;) Too bad we only have the one laptop. There’s always a scuffle over it!

We are still doing some school work and Deanna admitted to me today that she is glad of it, it’s something else to DO! LOL
