I remembered to write stuff down this month!! WOOO HOOO!!! 😉

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Joshua – Boboton should be the name of a planet.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

Colin has a new found love of Babybel Cheese. He also likes using the net on his head. He looks like a lunch lady!

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
We have gone through about 5 electric can openers in the past couple of years. Instead of buying yet another one I got a manual can opener instead. I left it out and asked Deanna to open some cans for me. Hee hee hee hee!! It took her FOREVER to figure out how it works!
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

Deanna and I were watching TV.

Me – That was D-U-M-B.

Deanna – What? I don’t get it.

Me – You know… Dumb, D-U-M-B.

Deanna – Oh! I thought it was a new acronym and I just didn’t know it yet!

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Evil Hank Jr
THIS was something The Hubby picked up at a used book store. SIGH… For the full story check out my Use Your Words post.
Believe me, THAT’S a story you don’t want to miss! 😉
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

Butterflies

We’ve been studying butterflies this month and having a lot of fun (for more on the butterflies click HERE ).

When they finished making their chrysalides , their butts were hanging out. Completely freaked Colin out.

Colin – EWWW!! They lost their butts!! Their BUTTS!!!!!!!

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
I over hear a conversation between Joshua and Deanna. I think I should be worried.
Deanna – Who would you put in a well?
Joshua – What????
Deanna – Y’know, like on “Silence of the Lambs”??  ‘It puts the lotion on its skin or it gets the hose again.’
Joshua – Uh, no one!!!
Deanna – There has to be SOMEONE!!
Joshua – Well, who would YOU put in a well??
Deanna – For like Niall from One Direction. For dislike, that annoying guy that says YEP on “Storage Wars”. (insert evil laugh here)
Joshua – Oh, well……. Maybe Will Smith.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

Colin – Are Q and O brothers?

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
We are doing our normal, weekly shopping at Kroger. We have the normal, usual 2 buggies full.
I am trying to make the bagger understand that he doesn’t have to try to fit everything into one buggy because it’s just not going to work.
The cashier pipes up and gets him to listen. He then turns to me and says, “What is this, like a month’s worth?”
Me – Umm… No, it’s like a week’s worth…..
The look on his face was PRICELESS. It never gets old… LOL
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

We did a bunch of crafts on Monday for St. Patrick’s Day.

3D Shamrocks Collage

3 D Shamrocks – tutorial HERE

Leprechaun Houses Collage

We made leprechaun houses out of the boxes I won from Pick Your Plum.

I had to make finger paint… All of our paint brushes are missing!!!

I used 1 cup of flour and added water until I liked the consistency. Then I added a few drops of green food coloring.

Shamrock Collage

Tissue paper shamrocks.

Merrows by Cailey Pooka by Colin

We read Magic Tree House : Leprechauns and Irish Folklore : Research Guide

Then I asked Cailey and Colin to pick their favorite fairy and draw it.

St. Patrick's Day Breakfast

And that is what we had for breakfast! Green orange juice and green pancakes! The kids LOVED them!!!

There you go! The past month in our house. 😀

Don’t forget to check out all the AMAZING bloggers participating this  month!

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
My prompt :
10 years after your death, a person finds a collection of your writing in a thrift store. For some reason, a friend of yours or perhaps a stalker compiled blog posts, facebook updates, short stories, poems….anything you write…into a book, and that book ended up, mistakenly or otherwise, in a donation box. What would you hope this friend of yours included in this compilation? What would you hope the person who buys and reads it would gather about you, about the world, and about himself or herself?
It was submitted by: http://climaxedtheblog.blogspot.com
*****************************************************************************************************
I think that video really sums up the way I want people to think of me when I’m gone.
Remember the good things and leave out all the rest.
I would hope that the book included any time that I made someone happy. Anytime that I made them smile or feel good about themselves. Anytime that I was helpful.
I hope that it would leave out the times I was short tempered or selfish. Anytime that I snapped at someone or was rude.
None of those terrible poems I wrote in high school!!! YEESH!!! What was I thinking??
None of the letters I wrote to my cousin! LOL There’s no telling the crazy things I wrote. Although Amy could probably still tell you all about them! 😉
None of those silly notes I wrote in school and folded into a thousand different shapes.  (Can you say EMBARRASSING???)
I would want people to feel good reading it. Good about themselves. See that the world is still a good place, filled with good people.
Valentines Day
My subject is, If you had the chance, would you go to an ANTI VALENTINES DAY party and why?  It was submitted byhttp://dates2diapers2.blogspot.com   .
Here goes:
Would I??? WOULD I??? You bet ya!!!!!!! Why???? Well, let me fill you in on that.
SIGH………………..
You would think that being a married person would mean that Valentine’s Day would never suck again. And if you thought that way, you would be WRONG!!! Oh, so WRONG!!!!!
I have married a very practical, very unromantic man. I can count on one hand the number of romantic things he has done in the almost 22 years we have been a couple. SIGH…….
One year he even said, “But I thought Valentine’s Day was just for kids.”
Yes, people, I did let him live but it was  Very Close Thing.
At least if I went an Anti Valentine’s Day Party, I would be around people that know how I feel! They would “get me”. We could sit around and dis stupid St Valentine and Cupid until we felt better!
We could knock back a few drinks and play “Shoot Cupid with an Arrow” (like “Pin the Tail on the Donkey” only way more violent).
Yeah, that sounds like FUN!!!!
We could take a page from “Valentine’s Day” and beat the heck out of a large, heart-shaped pinata!
Sounds like a good time to me!!!!
Now, before we all go and beat the snot out of The Hubby, I will tell you the most romantic thing he ever did.
It was Valentine’s Day 2003. A few weeks before I had had life saving surgery. My gall bladder was sooooo bad that the doc said I would not have made it past the weekend (this is a whole other story where I rant and rave about our health care system).
The Hubby suggests that I call my Dad and see if they will babysit the kids that night. It was YUCKY out. I wasn’t really feeling it but I agreed to call anyway. (Little did I know that he had prearranged this with my Dad.) Then I set out to take the kids to Dad’s.
When I got back the house was empty! Hmmm… WTH??? Then I noticed a little box tacked to wall. WTH???
I opened the box and found a note. The note said to “go next door”.
I went to his friend’s house next door and he had another box for me. That one said “go to Kim’s work”.
I went to the store that my friend Kim worked at and she had another box for me. That one said “go to my work and look under the sink in the break room”.
So off I go. I get to The Hubby’s work and found ANOTHER box. This one said “Hampton Inn room 223”.
I get there and knock on the door. The Hubby opens it and he actually had FLOWERS and CANDY and a stuffed BEAR!!!!
Who are you and what did you do with my husband????
It was the best Valentine’s Day I have ever had.
SIGH…..
Maybe I should remind him of this???
SIGH……
Now, don’t forget to check out the amazing bloggers who are sure to be MUCH more entertaining than I am!
Fly
Deanna – We need to start our own store called “Burnett Sized – When Family Size Just Isn’t Big Enough”.
**************************************************************************************************
Colin – This family is full of crazies!!!
**************************************************************************************************
Joshua – I hate Thorsdays, they are so unLoki.
*************************************************************************************************
Joshua – It’s a sad day when you type Leonardo in the search box and DiCaprio comes up before da Vinci.
******************************************************************************************************************
Never NEVER NNNNNNEEEEEVVVVEEEERRRR bring up the country of Djibouti around your kids… You will never hear the end of booty jokes.
Colin – I bet the grass in brown in Djibouti.
Joshua – I bet it stinks in Djibouti.
Deanna – Dang! I didn’t know Djibouti was so big.
And on and on and on and on……..
And let me apologize to the people of Djibouti on behalf of my heathen children.
********************************************************************************************************************
Deanna – Why does everyone think Joshua is funnier than me???
Me – You’re a different kind of funny.
Deanna – And what do you mean by that?????
phone rings
Me to The Hubby – Deanna wants to know why everyone thinks Joshua is funnier than she is.
Yes, that’s what I said.
Deanna – Wait!! Tell me he didn’t say the same thing!!! What do you mean by different?????
********************************************************************************************************************
Jacob (in his best Arhnahld impression) – Hi. I ahm Deaaanna Da Brows. Muh eyebrows will beat you into submission.
********************************************************************************************************************
Cailey thinks that cat burglars steal cats. Cailey – What if a cat burglar comes  and tries to steal Derpy???
********************************************************************************************************************
Apparently we have a clepto cat. Derpy keeps stealing things dragging them under the girls’ bed. Deanna was seriously upset to find a pair of Joshua’s underwear. Although, Derpy did leave a present of pipe cleaners and crayons in Cailey’s shoe.
********************************************************************************************************************
Cailey bumping into Deanna – Sorry, I hope I didn’t hurt your internal orgals.
(no, that isn’t supposed to be organs 😉 )
*******************************************************************************************************************
Jacob just started a new job at the same place The Hubby works. He comes home and says this – I found my toe twin today. You know how I dropped that wood on my toe the other day? So did so and so. He took his shoe off and his toe looks just like mine!
*****************************************************************************************************************
Whenever that stupid Miley song comes on Cailey changes the words, like so:
I came in like a
tennis ball
soccer ball
football
It drives Deanna crazy.
******************************************************************************************************************
At the Christmas party for The Hubby’s work, the owner mentioned a special kind of Christmas bonus this year. Every employee got $50 to give to another employee. They were to go to the office and put down which person they wanted their $50 to go to.
The Hubby gets in the van and says, “I know I’m getting $50 from 3 people.” He then names them. I asked if he gave his to Jacob. “No! I didn’t even think about that!!” Good grief!!!!
******************************************************************************************************************
Deanna, Cailey and I were discussing doll clothes and what they were made of. We mention polyester and taffeta.
Jacob – I thought that was old people pudding.
Me – What?
Jacob – That taffeta word.
Me and Deanna – You mean tapioca!
*******************************************************************************************************************
Christmas Day and I am playing Battleship with Colin.
Me – I, 1
Colin – You did????
******************************************************************************************************************
Joshua – Do you know the actress So and So?
Me – No, I don’t think so.
Joshua – She was in such and such.
Me – Oh, yeah!
Joshua – She is also on the show XXXXXXXX.
The Hubby – Yeah, but she dies.
Joshua – Gee, thanks.
The Hubby – Oh, are you starting back at season 1?
Joshua – I’m not so sure now…..
*******************************************************************************************************************
Colin, with tape on his nose – Do I need Proactiv?
******************************************************************************************************************
Wheel of Fortune is on the TV with a split screen. Vanna and the letter board are on the bottom and the contestants are on the top. Colin – Are those people really big or is that lady really small?
******************************************************************************************************************
So, there you have it, folks! The crazy things that have been heard around our house!!!
Don’t forget to check out the amazing bloggers that are taking part in Fly this month!!!
If I could spend a day with my fifteen year old self I would……
It was submitted by:
http://xcartwight.blogspot.com
Pic of me at 15
That is me at 15. This is the only picture I have of myself at that age but it’s the perfect one. I have on my very favorite t-shirt (Guns N Roses) and my very favorite jeans.
I have been thinking long and hard about this post ever since I received my prompt. Do I tell it like it was? Do I just make something up? Will I tick off my family if I DO tell it the way it was?
Well, here it goes, regardless.
I was such a mess at 15. My life was a mess at 15. Everything seemed to be spiraling out of control.
My mom was an alcoholic. My dad was pretty much absent and had just remarried. I was supposed to have been in the wedding but no one showed up to get me. I didn’t even get a phone call saying they couldn’t come. Just me sitting with my bags packed, waiting.
And people wondered why my head wasn’t on straight.  I was made to feel as if there was something tragically wrong with me because of the way I reacted to my situation in life. Yes, I was wild. Yes, I was out of control. I was 15 and in situations no one should ever have to go through. No one, no matter what age.
So, what would I do if I spent the day with my 15 year old self? I would hug me. And hug me and hug me. I would tell me that everything was really and truly going to be OK. That I would make it out with my sanity intact. That even though it didn’t feel that way at the time, there really were people that loved and cared about me. That I mattered. That my parents were human and also dealing with issues. I don’t believe either of them ever meant to hurt me. I know now that they both loved me, they just couldn’t see past their own issues. I would tell my 15 year old self to cut them some slack.
Oh, my gosh… Am I really going to post this? I don’t know….. I just don’t know….
I guess I could make up some drivel about how much fun I would have with my 15 year old self…. But that wouldn’t be true. That wouldn’t be me.
So that part of me that is still 15, that still feels that hurt –
I love you. You matter.
Oh, gosh! I think I’m actually going to hit the schedule button.
What We’ve Been Up To (Besides FREEZING!!!)
We have been SO busy and SO cold!!! Single digit highs for the south?? INSANE!!!! Our sliding door on the van was frozen shut for DAYS!! It finally opened yesterday afternoon!  Thank goodness!
So, just what have we been up to???
Carousel 011 Carousel 013
We went to the mall last weekend. Cailey and Colin loved the indoor carousel!
It’s a bit different for us here. It takes almost an hour to get to a mall!!! WHAT??? Crazy!!!!
We then headed over to the huge used book store. Unfortunately someone decided to have a massive meltdown so he and I ended up sitting it out in the van. SIGH….. I did manage to snag some great freebies from the free box, though!
Water Cycle Collage
We have been studying the weather. Cailey and Colin drew the water cycle.
Weather 030
We made a wind vane!! An actual working wind vane! LOL It was accurate and everything!
Motte and Bailey Castle 021 Motte and Bailey Castle 022
We also started our middle ages unit. We were going to make actual dirt, grass and wood models of motte and bailey castles but the GROUND IS FROZEN!!!!!!  So they drew them instead. 😉
Shield and Sword Papier Mache 016
Yesterday we started making papier mache shields and swords. I’ll be posting the finished products soon! 😉
What have you been up to???
