Retro Butterick ’47 Is DONE!!!!

YAY!! It’s all done! πŸ™‚ Well, I think I need to add a couple of snaps above the zipper, but other than that, IT’S DONE! πŸ™‚

As you can see, there’s a bit of a gap over on my left side where the zipper is located. I’ll just add a couple of snaps there above the zipper and it’ll be just right! πŸ™‚

Apparently this is pattern is very flattering for my body type. As soon as I came downstairs d said, “Ooh! It makes you look thinner!” I may need to make 10 or 100 more from this pattern. πŸ˜‰

Check out those shoes!! Those are the pair that I got FREE from Sears for using my reward points!! YAY!!

Here’s a back view of the Retro Butterick ’47 B5209

The dress is a little bunchy in the back but that’s due to me being so short-waisted! LOL

So, there’s another vintage/retro pattern to mark as done! YAY!

Next up will be my purse. And if things go well I’ll be posting a tutorial for that tonight or tomorrow. Wish me luck! πŸ˜‰

Here are the fabrics I’ll be using.

I had a lovely navy blue that I wanted to use but it picked up SOOOOO much lint that I decided not to use it! The blue here is what is left over from the What a Hoot skirtΒ and the gold and cream is what I won from Handmade by Hilani. I’m a little nervous about this… I have never made a purse before and I don’t think it will be as simple as d’s bag…. But I’m gonna try! πŸ˜‰

I think after the purse and tops for me I will make some play clothes for the cs. I’ll be sure to post tutorials when I do!

Retro Butterick ’47 Is ALMOST Done!

YAY!!! Just the zipper, hemming and pressing left to be done! πŸ™‚ I hate putting in the zipper. Without a zipper foot it’s a NIGHTMARE of pinning, sewing and ripping, pinning, sewing and ripping…. SIGH…. I really need to remember to get one next time I’m near Joann’s or Hancocks.

The pattern has been SUPER easy to follow and so far the fit is excellent since I went down 2 sizes on the bodice… LOL

Anyway, I should finish that up this evening!! Then I will be making myself a purse! πŸ™‚ YAY!! I really need a new one for summer! I’ll be putting up a tutorial for that if everything goes well… LOL You never know… πŸ˜‰

After that I think I might have to try one of the vintage patterns Mrs. H gave me. Maybe the blouse…

Misses Blouse & Skirt Butterick See & Sew Sewing Pattern 5133 (Size B: 14-16-18)

See & Sew 5133

I really need some more tops! OH!! And I want to try this one, too!!

M6467

McCall’s M6467

And I still have some retro/vintage rereleases that I HAVE to do!! LOL

We didn’t have church today. We had more violent storms come through last night and they knocked out the power at the church. Too bad the storms didn’t cool us off. It’s still hotter than HECK out there. I hate summer…. I reallllly, reallllllllly do. Give me snow!! LOL

So, what are YOU working on??

I’m BAAAAACK….to Sewing!

SHEW!!! It feels SO good to be sewing again!!! I have really missed it this past week!! I haven’t gotten very far with the Retro Butterick ’47 B5209 but at least it’s a start!!

I can’t wait to get this one done!! I think it will end up being my favorite so far!! πŸ™‚

Oh my goodness! I just realized! It has been more than a WEEK since I have been in a fabric store….. Oh my GOSH!! Am I sick? Someone call a doctor!! I think there’s something wrong with me!!! YILES!!! Β πŸ˜‰

There are some great sales going on for McCall’s, Vogue and Butterick patterns! All clearance and out-of-print patterns for $1.99!!! And there are some retro/vintage patterns in that! πŸ™‚ Make sure to click on the clearance and out-of-print links instead of the sale link. It was acting sort of wonky last night. :/

I managed to actually read a whole book last week! YAY!! I finally read the latest in the Sookie Stackhouse series, Deadlocked. Β It was SOOOO good! I just love that series. But I felt that it ended on sort of a cliffhanger in a way. :/

I am behind on my True Blood viewing. I watched the first episode of this season but haven’t had a chance to watch the others. I have to fix that!! LOL Even though the series is SOOO far removed from the books I just can’t stop watching! But I do wish they would make MORE of an effort… This season seems to be going even farther away from the books.

OH! I have a better picture of that weird almost entirely white skunk!!

Isn’t that weird!! He isn’t very afraid of us, either. NOT good! Not good AT ALL!!! We need to figure out a way to discourage him from coming to eat in our yard!!

We had some major storms move through area last night. A lot of people are out of power and the heat is AWFUL!! I hope you all are OK!! We were lucky and managed to keep power and had no damage. SHEW!!!!

We ended VBS last night. My group of little people did SO well with the program!! They managed to remember most of the words and movements to all the songs!! I was so proud of them! There were some moments, though, where I thought we might lose them. LOL They started to get pretty rowdy a time or ten. πŸ˜‰ But they did great. I hope they all come back for Sunday School and church. I’m going to miss them.

So, how are YOU spending the weekend? Working on any cool projects? Reading any great books?? Seen any good movies?? LOL

I Have Been a Bad, Bad Blogger!

Yes, I have been a terrible, awful, no-good blogger this week. I didn’t even post yesterday! GASP!!!! Β You all know that we have been having VBS all week and that has taken A LOT of my time but here are a couple of things that you don’t know…..

C2 (my youngest) is extremely shy and extremely attached to The Hubby and me. This week has been a major stress packed time for him. Even though he has been enjoying VBS it has put a lot of stress on him and he has been regressing. This past week I have had to be right beside him 24/7. And most of the time just being in the same room has not been enough. He wants me to hold him constantly. That’s OK. We are working through it and once VBS is over things ought to go back to normal.

I have Fibromyalgia. I wasn’t sure that I was going to talk about that here but then I decided that I definitely SHOULD. Spreading awareness is a GOOD thing, especially for a condition that is so misunderstood. It is a REAL thing. It can be a debilitating thing! So, while I have had LOADS of fun this week with VBS it has caused me to have a major flair up. That means lots of pain and exhaustion. It’s OK. I am dealing with it and it’s definitely better now that I am on medication. I knew that this would probably happen but I also knew how important it was for me to teach this week. There’s no way my little guy would have gone otherwise and I have been so incredibly blessed this week watching the little people come to understand more about God and His amazing love for us. I will definitely be volunteering again next year.

So there you go. Another little peek inside my world.

OK, enough about that. LOL

I have finished cutting out the fabric for the Retro Butterick ’47 B5209!!! YAY!!! I won’t be able to start sewing on it until tomorrow, though. I haven’t sewed a stitch all week!! WAH!!! 😦 Well, unless you count patching d’s jeans… And I DON’T! LOL

OH!! D has had all kinds of compliments all week on the bag/backpack that I made her!! YAY!!! Maybe I should make some up to sell?? I have no clue about pricing though. I want to start selling but I am not sure where or how to start. Anyone have any advice in that area?? I am definitely open to suggestions! LOL

I am very sorry about being a BAD BAD blogger!! I hope you stick with me!! Things will get back to normal this weekend! Well, as normal as it ever is around here. πŸ˜‰

Leave me a little note and tell me what YOU have been up to!! I would love to see what everyone is working on!!!

What I’ve Been Up To Lately

If you’ve been following along you know all about our VBS this week. It’s been SOOOOO much fun but also SOOOOO exhausting!! LOL The kids are great though. I am definitely going to do this again next year. One little boy hugged me tonight and said, “Mrs. Stacy, you are my favorite teacher EVER!” It brought tears to my eyes. Sweet little people.

My youngest is in my VBS class, that’s the main reason I took the 4s and 5s. He is extremely shy and I knew there was no way he would ever participate otherwise. He surprised us all tonight. He got up in front of all the VBS kids and said his Bible memory verse!! Into the microphone!!! And won a gift certificate to Chick-Fil-A for chicken nuggets! His favorite food! LOL Of course, I had to stand up there with him, but still!! It was so amazing that he got past his fear and did that. I am so proud of my little guy.Β

Here are a few pics of what I’ve been up to. I actually got to starting cutting the fabric for the Retro Butterick ’47 today!! YAY!! Hoping to finish the cutting tomorrow and possibly start sewing it on Friday! πŸ™‚ YAY!! I am missing my sewing. πŸ˜‰ It’s definitely my therapy.Β

Bonnie “helping” me with the cutting…. SIGH……

My pitiful sign outside of my VBS classroom. Hey, I was in a hurry! πŸ˜‰ I looked all over for airplane stickers to put in there and couldn’t find them ANY WHERE!Β

My classroom door. It looks MUCH better than my pitiful sign. LOL Β (This was before my printer went out.)

C2 getting his picture taken at VBS. πŸ™‚

That is the almost entirely white skunk that keeps coming into our yard. Anyone know how to get rid of those things???Β

Sooooo, what have YOU been doing lately??? Working on any projects?? Leave me a comment and let me know!!
