Next up (and last for the Sewing to Rebuild) will be another boy’s set.

After that I will be getting busy sewing for MY kids. LOL Colin has been complaining that it has been too long since I made him something. It will be a part of Hopeful Threads June sewing project.

Hopeful Threads

I have some really cute knit that I have been thinking about making into PJs for Colin and a nightgown for Cailey. Colin also needs some new shorts! Then I think I will break out some patterns that I have been meaning to get to.

HAVE FUN SEWING!!! 😀

SHARK ATTACK!! More Sewing to Rebuild

Here are the pieces that go with yesterday’s shark toy.

I was going to stay away from making the sets matchy-matchy but I just had to with this fabric theme! LOL And the fabric is so soft. I think it’s interlock knit.

I have been having so much fun SEWING!!!

Colin says to me today, “Mommy you never sew for ME anymore.” Well, it looks like I will have to follow Kristy’s lead from Hopeful Threads. This month’s theme is Summer Sewing for the Family!! I need to get some projects together for my Cs. 😉

OH! Cailey wanted me to show you her nature finds! LOL

Cailey's Nature Finds

The Hubby is identifying them for her as I type. LOL Not too bad for living in the city with a TINY yard.

EASY Stuffed Shark Toy Tutorial AND Pattern

Sharky Stuffed Toy 1

I wanted to make a stuffed shark out of that cute shark knit for Sewing to Rebuild,  BUT I was a little intimidated by the free patterns I found. SOOO many pieces!! They all looked very complicated. Seeing as how I am so new to sewing stuffed toys, I thought I would try my hand at making my own pattern and that is what I came up with. Only 4 pieces total and very simple. Easy peasy!! 😉

Click Shark Stuffed Toy Pattern 1 and Shark Stuffed Toy Pattern 2  for the pattern!! (Hopefully the PDF will pop up like it’s supposed to…)

After you print, cut and tape your pattern these will be the steps to sewing.

STEP 1

Sharky Stuffed Toy 2

Cut your pieces. This is what they will look like.

STEP 2

Sew your fin together, right sides together, leaving the bottom open.

STEP 3

Sharky Stuffed Toy 3

Cut the slit for your fin.

STEP 4

Sharky Stuffed Toy 6

Turn the fin right side out. Insert it into the slit in the top of the shark body. Pin it in place and very slowly sew the bottom of the fin to the sides of the slit in the shark.  The fin will be open for the stuffing.

You COULD stuff the fin and then sew it into the slit. Whichever is easier for you to do.

Sharky Stuffed Toy 8

This is what it will look like when you are done.

STEP 6

Sharky Stuffed Toy 10

Pin the fin out of the way. Now, pin the shark body pieces with right sides together. Sew the pieces, making sure to leave an opening for the stuffing.

STEP 7

Sharky Stuffed Toy 13

Turn it right side out, stuff and sew the opening closed!! 🙂

Now you are all done!! YAY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Let me know what you think!! Are the steps easy to follow??

Sewing Hannah’s Pillowcase Bubble Romper Pattern

I am still doing Sewing to Rebuild! 🙂 My latest project was Hannah’s Pillowcase Bubble Romper from Create Kids Couture. The pattern can be found free for a short time on Fabric.com.

Sewing to Rebuild 5011

This was a super easy, super fast pattern to do. I was able to make it in just a couple of hours.

Now I am going to have to make Cailey one!! LOL The pattern only goes up to a size 6 but I already sized it up to an 8 for her. 😉

I decided to leave off the sash. It looks more comfy this way. 😉

I now have 3 complete sets to send. I need 3 more!!! 😀 I am going to be sewing up a storm this weekend!!!

Next up, a bag, PJ pants and a toy for a little boy!!

HAVE FUN SEWING!!!!!

Sew Busy Sewing

SHEW!!! I took a break from sewing yesterday. It was just one of those days. Fibro.

Here is what I have so far on the next set for Sewing to Rebuild.

Sewing to Rebuild 3007

For the little rabbit, I used a template from Crafty Cupboard.   It was very easy to make. I think I might need to make a bunch in spring prints for Easter decorations!! LOL

The only thing this set needs now is an outfit. I am thinking about making the Sunshine Days outfit in pink.  I hope to get started on it today after I get all my errands done.

Look what we say the other day!!

Rainbow 001

I wish the photo would show how bright and beautiful this was!! It was just behind our neighbor’s house across the street.

Hope you are having fun sewing!!! 😀

And Even MORE Sewing……

SHEW!! I have been in a sewing marathon!! LOL

This is the bag I made yesterday –

Sewing to Rebuild 1008

And here is what I made to go in it –

Sewing to Rebuild 2004

Since I don’t have any size 4 little boys I used Squiggly Twigs Designs’ Quick Pants pattern.  (I just LOVE seeing Cailey at the top of that page! LOL)

I also made a football from this tutorial –

DIY Fabric Football from Made by Joel

Here is mine –

Sewing to Rebuild 2006

YAY!!!! I have now made 2 toys!!! YIPPEEE!! I can’t tell you what an accomplishment that is for me!! 😀 I was so scared to try toys!!! Now, that football isn’t the best in the world but I am still proud of it and I hope the little boy that gets it will love it.

I think I may try my hand at a doll for Cailey at Christmas. Maybe…. They still scare me a little… LOL

Now, on to the next bag, toy and clothes!!! Hmmm… I wonder what I should pick next…..

HAVE FUN SEWING!!!!!

Sewing Away!

I have been busy as a bee! Sewing, sewing and more sewing!! 🙂

Here is what I have.

Sewing to Rebuild 1001

Sewing to Rebuild 1006

This little outfit will be going in the bag I made this week along with the little lamb.  It’s not much but it’s something!!

Sewing to Rebuild 1008

I just finished this bag a few minutes ago. I plan on putting a pair of shorts or PJ pants and a stuffed ball in it. 🙂

I was watching the news last. I can’t believe all the tornadoes that were popping up. Is it just me, or does it seem like there are more than normal this year???

So thankful to be living near the mountains. I know that doesn’t make us immune from the tornadoes but I feel a bit better. I can remember living in Middle Tennessee and being scared to death by the tornado warnings that seemed to happen way too often. We had no cellar or basement and I was always making the kids get in the closet.

I think we can be sure of being safe from hurricanes this year, too. No more flooding!!

Just counting my blessings today.

On a lighter note…. Guess what we have here????

0 ICE CREAM

An ICE CREAM LADY!!! WOOO HOOOO!!! That is something that we missed out on while living in the country! 😉 We’ve only managed to catch her once. The first few times she drove through too quickly. Then the kids decided that we ought to wait outside for 30 minutes before the usual time, just in case! It worked! But we haven’t seen it since. Was it something we said?? LOL Maybe she will show up today. Fingers crossed!
