SquigglyTwigs Designs Pattern Tests AND My Signature Look

I was planning on creating a separate look for the Project Run & Play Signature Look Challenge BUT I absolutely LOVE LOVE LOVE the way the pattern tests for SquigglyTwigs Designs Cute and Quick Pants and Peasant Blouse turned out so I will be entering them. 😉

I have very eclectic tastes and style.  Just like my preferences for reading, music and movies, they seem to be all over the place! I love modern, retro, vintage AND classic looks, so it’s sort of hard to pin down just one look to describe my signature style….

 

 

I used SquigglyTwigs Designs Pretty Peasant Dress pattern for the tunic. I used the standard size 8 with added ruffle.

The capris are SquigglyTwigs Designs Cute and Quick Pants custom size 7 with added ruffles.

 

 

 

If you’ve been following my blog for a while then you’ll know how much I LOOOOOOVE eyelet! I can’t get enough of it! LOL And I think it goes wonderfully with the 2 vintage look prints.

I have to say, though, that print was a pain in the rump to sew with!!! It’s woven but it reacts like knit!! PAIN IN THE BUTT!!! And every time I took the iron to it, it would expand! I love it but it was a PAIN! 😉

 

 

 

 

 

I also made Colin a pair of pants from the same pattern. I used the standard size 6 with added cuff. I used a heavier weight knit for the main pant portion and a medium weight knit for the cuffs. He LOVES them. He would rather wear knits than anything else! 😉

Men’s Shirt Refashion Challenge

The next challenge over at Project Run & Play is to refashion a man’s button up shirt. It took me FOREVER to decide what I wanted to do with it! I had too many ideas racing around in my head!

I used the collar for her hair bow.

I LOVE the silver sequin ribbon! I was going to put it along the bottom of the top but I ran out! I went back to the store and it was ALL GONE! 😦

I made the elastic casing out of the sequined ribbon.

I made the pants out of the sleeves! Cailey is such a little beanpole that the sleeves were a perfect fit! LOL

I turned the cuffs into bracelets. I cut a little out of the middle to make them small enough to not fall over her hands. Then I took the plain buttons off and added the shiny, blinged out buttons. 😉

The challenge after this one is the last. It will be the Signature Look Challenge. I *think* I know what I will be doing but that could always change.

I am still sewing through my stash except for this challenge! 😉

Pleats Be My Valentine

 

SHEW!! Here it is!! FINALLY finished. 5 rows of pleats, people… 5 ROWS!!! LOL But it was worth it. 😉 The top has great movement! I love it!

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

I made the headband from Dollar Tree supplies. 😉 I took the roses off and hot glued them to the band. VERY simple!!!!

 

I was going to post this tomorrow but I want to hurry up and put it in the Project Run & Play Link Up for the sew along! LOL  The theme for this week is Valentine’s Day.

DinoROAR

If you’ve been following my blog then you know I have been sewing along with Project Run & Play this season. It is SOOOO much fun!! I have been using up my stash and challenging myself. This outfit was by far the most challenging and I definitely made the mistakes to prove it! LOL BUT I think it still turned out well. 😉 Colin LOVES it. He never asks to keep something on after pictures but this time he did. YAY!!!!!!

I made 3 coordinating pieces – the denim shorts, the raglan tee and the vest. All 3 pieces have the dino print on them. 😉

It is SOOOO hard to get him to hold still and smile for the pictures! LOL He would rather be in motion.

I printed out a dinosaur footprint to use as a guide in cutting the applique.

This is my very first raglan tee!! I found it to be very much like making a peasant blouse.

Here are some more firsts!

First time working with denim (other than patching).

First time making inset pockets (without a pattern) and I think that next time I will cut the a bit bigger. They are functional but I think it would have looked better if more of the print was showing.

First time making a faux fly. That was soooo much easier than I thought it was going to be! LOL

Orange Crush Dress

 

 

This is the Orange Crush Dress! It will be making its way to South Africa soon! 😀 But before that it will be my entry for Project Run & Play Week 2 Stripes and Polka Dots Challenge.  (To see all the upcoming challenges click HERE )

Thankfully it has been extremely warm here lately so Cailey didn’t have to freeze her tushy off for the pictures! 😉

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

This dress has  A LOT of pleats!! The front and back sides are both pleated at the neck.

 

 

 

 

And then there are alllll the pleats at the bottom! 😉

 

It was a super fun dress to make and I will be sharing the tutorial with you next week! 😀

OHH!! I will also be sharing a pattern test for SquigglyTwigs Designs sometime this week!!! YAY!!!! 😀

After that I will be hard at work on my boy’s look for the Week 3 Challenge. I think I have my fabric choices pinned down but other than that I am SOOOOOOO not sure of what I’ll be doing! LOL Not good!! Not good at all!
