Sewing, Homeschooling and Craziness

About Me

I am a homeschooling mom of 5  (Jacob – , 19, Joshua – 16 , Deanna  15 , Cailey –  8  and Colin –  5 ).  Although, my Jacob has now moved out. WAH!!! 😦

I love to sew and read. Books and fabric are my 2 biggest vices!! I read all different genres but non-fiction is my least favorite.  I have a HUGE personal library. I started sewing in March of 2012 after receiving my first sewing machine for my Birthday!

I was born in WV but I have lived in 6 different states and went to 11 different schools. I can’t count the number of times I have moved! LOL No, not military, maybe just a bit of gypsy. We moved to Georgia from Virginia in the fall of 2012.

I LOVE old movies. Cary Grant, Clark Gable, Doris Day, Ginger Rogers.

I love all genres of music. Seriously! I love opera, classical, rock, country, rap, gospel. You name it and I will listen to it.

I am a Harry Potter FREAK!! I have a decent sized collection of HP stuff. I need to take pics of it! 🙂

I tend to be a bit of a free spirit and march to the beat of my own drum. LOL I like it that way. 😉

That’s a little bit about me! I hope you stick around and check things out!

  1. Thank you for following my blog. With your vast experience of homeschooling (5 kids!) I bet there is a lot I could learn from you. I hope/plan to homeschool my LO.

    • That is GREAT! I am so glad that we homeschool. I wish we had never had the kids in public school. My younger 2 will hopefully never go. 😉 And one thing about homeschooling is that it can be however you want it to be. There’s no right and wrong way just the right way for YOU. 😉

I just started following your blog because I sew, etc. I am from WV too, born in Charelston. I live allll the way in California now as a result of the military. Cant wait to explore!

    • YAY!! Another WV Girl!!! Always glad to meet someone from my home state!! You can take a girl out of the mountains but you can’t take the mountains out of the girl! 😉

    Hi, Stacy!
I love fabric too! My name is a Patricia and I am a fabricoholic – LOL! I love to sew and I really love hearing how someone else has fallen in love with it too. I learned to sew with my grandmother and have her treadle sewing machine. I do have a suggestion – find a good basic sewing book. You can often find them in thrift stores. Even an older one will help. Vogue, Readers Digest, Clotilde – any of these will do. And if you run into something you don’t understand, send me an email and I will try to help! I look forward to seeing your creations. My children have all flown the nest. And my step-daughter is grown too. I have grandchildren and great-grandchildren to spoil! Have fun and happy sewing!

    • Thank you SO much, Patricia!!! You are too sweet!!
I am definitely on the look out for some good sewing books! Thank you for your suggestions!! I borrowed some from the library but my time limit is out. 😦
I am having so much fun sewing!! I wish I had started ages ago!!!

  4. Love the site Stacy. I was actually thinking about getting a sewing machine and seeing if this was something I might get into. I’d really like to make my own clothes and I heard there was a lot of free patterns on the internet you can get.

    • YAY, Gwen!! I hope you love it as much as I do!! And there are TONS of free patterns and tutorials! I started out with a few free tutorials and was scared to try patterns for a while… But once you get the lingo they are fairly easy to follow.
      Good luck!!!

  5. I don’t know how you home school. I think my kids would drive me insane. Not to mention, I’d screw up all their lessons. Go you!

    • Oh, I LOVE it!! I thought the same thing at first, though. LOL But now I wish that we had always homeschooled. I get to actually be there for all their “OH! I get it!” moments. Nothing like it! 😉

  6. Hi Stacy, Found you through the Blog Hop Social! I recently got my first sewing machine and am learning to sew (still a lot more practice needed lol!) I’m glad I came across your blog I might have to try a few of your tutorials. Have a great weekend! Carly @ Happy Little Kiwi
