I have been sewing away!!! 🙂 I am so excited to be apart of Sewing to Rebuild!!!
Here is what I have made so far.
I LOOOOOOOOOOOOOOVE this bag!! It has to be my favorite one that I have ever made (and I have made TONS)!!! I think it’s the fabric. I need to try to find some more. This was donated (along with a bunch more) last year by a fabulous lady! 😉 2 of my good friends donated a lot last year to help out with Bags of Hope and Love. I haven’t given up on that. I just need to settle in and see if I can find some people that are willing to help out with it. I could reach so many kids if I had just a few people willing to help out. 😉
Here is my little lamb!!! This is the very first stuffed toy that I have ever made!! I LOVE IT!!!
1- I used fleece instead of felt. It is sooo sooo sooo soft. Now I need to buy more because the Cs both want one… LOL
2- I used the 4 leg pieces to make 4 legs instead of 2.
3- I added a little, bitty tail.
I am now in the middle of an outfit to go with this set. I decided to make shorts with a matching top. I am making the shorts the way I always make them but they are girl shorts so they aren’t as long as I would make them for Colin. I realize yesterday that I have never made shorts for Cailey! LOL I’ve made everything BUT shorts!! You can find the tutorial HERE. If you feel better using a pattern I suggest THIS ONE from Squiggly Twigs Designs. You might recognize the model at the top of the page. 😉 There are also some free patterns on Pattern Revolution. I have never made any of those patterns so I can’t say how easy they are.
So here I am, touting the Sewing to Rebuild from Pattern Revolution, again… 😉 Yesterday I shared some additional links for toys you can sew. There’s a great list on Pattern Revolution, but I wanted people to see just how many different free patterns and tutorials are out there for you to choose from. 😉
Oh! Each of those links takes you to a different part of the Pattern Revolution blog. Check out all 3 links! 😉 This last link will show you some of the things they have received so far! AWESOME!!!!!!
Now, on to the patterns and tutorials.
Of course, you are more than welcome to check out my tutorials…. 😉 LOL
SHEW!!! Well, there you go. Just about every tutorial I have ever seen…. LOL I would play around on the different blogs, if they have one tutorial, they probably have more. 😉
HAVE FUN SEWING!!!!!
It’s going to be soooooo hard to figure out what to sew first!!!!
I don’t think I ever did a tutorial for the totes so I will be working on that. 😉
I have never sewn a toy….. But I am determined to make it work! 😉 Pattern Revolution has some links to free patterns and tutorials but I found a TON on Pinterest!!!
Here are a few pictures of my new sewing room. It isn’t complete just yet. I have 5 boxes, 3 of which will go into my desk (whenever I get a new one). One box has some of my knick knacks in it and the last box is FULL of fabric scraps. I think I might be a scrap hoarder…… Seriously…..
These pictures are not very good. I think I might need to play with the settings on my phone and see what’s up. I am thinking of switching back to a Windows phone. It seem to take MUCH better pictures than this iPhone! GRRR!!!!
Those crates will be emptied tomorrow. We are finally getting back on track with school after having the last 2 wks off to unpack!
This is my HP mantel. All it needs is a Weasley clock! 😉 I am thinking about trying to make one myself.
I am missing a couple of my British editions. They had BETTER be in one of the few remaining boxes!!!
Now this is still just a mess…. I need to straighten the fabric up some.
THAT is my box o’scraps….. It’s ginormous. I really need to get to some scrap busters!! LOL
This is where my desk will eventually go. Then I can move the table to the middle of the room. I dislike having to iron, cut and sew all on the same table!! Not to mention having my button box, trims box and other misc. sewing supplies on the table as well! NO ROOM to MOVE!! LOL
Right now the table looks out onto the front porch and out into the road. Not the best view but it’s nice. 😉
I pretty much have my sewing room in order now! WOOOO HOOOO!!! I’ll be posting pictures tomorrow. 😉 Remember how I said that my first few projects would be for me??? Well, that has changed. My first projects will be sewing to help out. Sewing to help someone in need.
All across Facebook last week there were posts about how to help the people in Oklahoma. I am going to share one of those links with you. It is all about sewing to help the victims of that horrible tornado.
For Project 22, Craft Hope is making flip-flops to send to families that live in La Chureca, the dumps of Nicaragua. Please, go and read this post. It’s heartbreaking to know that these families have to live this way.
I even found the box of dresses to give to Pam for Africa!! I should have mailed them forever ago but they got packed!!!! I am soooo sorry, Pam!! I will be mailing them out to you tomorrow!!!!!
There are always ways that we can change our world. They may seem small but they can mean so much to the people they touch.
Look around your community. Is there a need you can help fill? Can you take bags of toiletries to the homeless? Can you give one afternoon (or more) a week to deliver for Meals on Wheels? Can you sew (or buy) and fill a few bags for children in foster care? Can you sew a stuffed toy for foster care? Can you buy a bag of pet food for your local animal shelter? Offer to foster some animals there? Can you go and give blood? Sign up to donate blood marrow?
There are many small ways to give back. You don’t have to be rich. You don’t have to have tons of time. Do whatever small thing YOU can do. If we all do that we can make a HUGE difference in our world. I truly believe that with all my heart.
Welcome to a Fly on the Wall group post. Today 13 bloggers are inviting you to catch a glimpse of what you’d see if you were a fly on the wall in our homes. Come on in and buzz around my house.
Buzz around, see what you think, then click on these links for a peek into some other homes:
First off, this is what I have probably looked like this past month –
And the house still looks a little like this –
Now on to what you might have heard!
The Hubby – What does that sign say? Alvin Heights???
Me – OMGosh! You should realllly wear your glasses! It says ASIA KITCHEN!!!!
We started watching the North America series on Discovery Channel. At one point it shows a bobcat trying to catch a mole.
Colin (hysterically laughing) – LOOK!!! The bobcat is playing Whack – a – Mole!!!!!
Afterward the bobcat starts playing with the dead mole.
We were watching another episode of North America, this one with mountain goats, the other night. The little baby mountain goat was too scared to cross the river.
Colin – Mommy, sometimes you just have to get over your fears.
The narrator – Sometimes you just have to get over your fears.
Colin – HEY!! He copied me!!!!!
Colin – I am so hungry I can feel the stomach acid eating away at my insides. (He’s 6, BTW….)
The day the movers came it was raining. No, it wasn’t just raining, it was a mini monsoon!! Naturally….
Anyway, the movers only really had one choice when I came to unloading our stuff. They were going to have to block the street for a little while.
Now, that being said, this is NOT a main thoroughfare. It is NOT a dead end street. It is a VERY small, quiet, neighborhood street. There MIGHT be 20 houses on it but I doubt it.
So, the movers put out the orange triangle things and the fun begins.
Most people calmly turned around went another way.
Some did NOT.
One “lady” (and I use the term VERY loosely) – ***BEEEEEEEEEEEP BEEEEEEEEEEEP BEEEEEEEEEEEEEP*** (She is just laying on that horn for all it’s worth like the movers are just going to drop our couch and move out of her way.)
Me – So sorry! But you will have to go around!
The “lady” – What the !#$%??? Why the !#$% did you block the road? I go down this !#$%ing street everyday!
Me – Well, today you will just have to turn around and go another way. Sorry.
The “lady” – ***BEEEEEEEEEEEEP BEEEEEEEEEEEP BEEEEEEEEEP*** (She then throws trash out of her window.) You are a !#$%ing @#$%^&!
She continues on in that way until she turns around.
I think what ticked me off most was her littering!! There was just no call for that! LOL
Deanna has gone on a diet. Now first let me say that I do NOT condone it…. I have been trying and trying and trying to tell her to just cut out the junk, add more fruits and veggies and exercise more… She is a teenage girl so you can probably figure out how far I got with that…
She and Joshua have a bet going. If she wins (by staying on the diet 3 weeks) she gets to shoot him with an air soft gun. If she cheats on the diet she has to buy Joshua a game.
Can I just say that I am now sick to death of Joshua running to me and asking if XYZ is OK for her to eat?????? OH MY GOSH!!! I swear he must ask me 10 times a day!!!!
Thankfully there is just one more week to go!! I hope we can all get through it without taping Joshua’s mouth shut!! LOL
If you’ve been following along you know that we spent 2 weeks in 2 hotel rooms…. SIGH….
Joshua – Oh, no!!! Dad is going down to the other room to use the bathroom! I was getting ready to go down there and play a game. I guess I’ll just have to wait now.
The next day The Hubby went back down to the 2nd room…. As he came out of the bathroom Joshua says, “It stinks in here,” in a very depressed tone. LOL
One day the hotel decided to check the fire alarms in the rooms. Over and over and over again. We were about ready to hurt someone by the time it was over.
One day (still while staying at the hotel) Joshua comes up from the vending machines.
Joshua – I am NEVER getting on that elevator again! I swear it’s possessed! It made this awful noise!
He then tried to imitate it.
The next day I talk him into going down to the laundry with me.
He was right. The elevator was DEFINITELY possessed. It took a few days before I could be convinced to ride on it again…. It sounded like the elevator from hell!!!!
I realized yesterday that I made a BIG mistake in my sewing room/library….. I accidentally covered all the outlets with bookshelves!!!!
I was in a bit of a panic for a little while until I saw that if I pulled one of the shelves out just a tiny bit, I could fit my hand behind there and reach an outlet. SHEW!!!
Some days I think my brain is on vacation. I just wish it would take the rest of me with it!!!!
The Hubby was going down the stairs the other night and we hear – OUCH!! What the HE&&???
Colin – My booby trap worked!!!
The Hubby – I hate Legos.
And now for some of my favorite LOLCats! 😉
As usual I pretty much forgot a lot of the stuff that happened. I even added stuff to my iPhone this time but instead of writing what happened I left myself keywords…. With my memory that didn’t help very much…. LOL I still can’t remember what “wainbows” means!!!
Today is my 1 year Blogiversary!!!!! YIPPPEEEE!!!!!
I can’t believe I have been doing this for a whole year!!! So much has happened. So much has changed. And yet, it feels like just yesterday that I started on this journey.
I love blogging. It keeps me sane, especially through both moves and my health issues. Not to mention raising 5 kids and homeschooling! LOL
I hope that the next year is even better. I hope I can continue to grow. I hope I can continue to bring you sewing and crafting ideas, homeschool helps that you will all find helpful and enjoy!!!
I LOVE ALL MY FOLLOWERS!! Thank you so much for following along with me!!! And I promise, as soon as I get this house settled, I will jump back into tutorials and homeschool units!!!! 😉 I have been feeling like SUCH a terrible blogger lately. I really have to get this house in shape so I can get back to having fun!
Well, I am not much closer to having the house unpacked than I was went I last posted… Stupid fibro. I have been having a lovely flare up. Hopefully it won’t last much longer, we have company coming this weekend!! I can’t wait to see our friends and I hope that I have everything put in its place by then!!
Anyway….
I thought I would share some cool tutorials that I have Pinned onto my For the Home board. I hope you enjoy! 🙂
It’s been a whole week since my last post!! MY GOODNESS!!!! I am SO sorry!!! It’s been crazy and hectic around here. I am still unpacking… I am working on my sewing room/library. That’s about all that’s left except for figuring out where to put some little things. I have most of MY books put up but there are still boxes and boxes and BOXES of the kids’ books. YILES!!!!!!
I have also been fighting yet another ear infection. MY GOODNESS!!!!! What is up with that????? And of course, we are in between insurance, again…. So I have just had to suck it up and deal with it. Thankfully it seems to be getting better now.
I’ve been thinking a lot about what my first sewing project ought to be once I get up and running again. I am in desperate need of some new clothes so I think the first few things will actually be for ME!!! LOL
I have been thinking a lot about this pattern-
Simplicity 2947
It looks SOOOO comfy and perfect for summer!!!
I wish I could remember what other patterns I have. They are still buried in a box somewhere. MY GOODNESS!!!!
I think I am going to keep an eye on the Joann’s ads. I want some more patterns!! Like these…..
OH!! I got a couple of books for Mother’s Day!! Right now I am almost finished with Ken Follett’s Fall of Giants. MY GOODNESS!!! It is sooooo good!! I have never read anything by Ken Follett before and if this book is anything to go by then I have seriously been missing out. I wish I had the next in the series!!!
The Hubby got me Dan Brown’s Inferno!!!! I should be starting it tomorrow! I just LOVE his Robert Langdon series and have been reading it from the beginning.
Joshua got me Charlaine Harris’s Dead Ever After. It is the very last Sookie Stackhouse book!!! MY GOODNESS!!!! WAH!!! It was a great ending to an awesome series and I just don’t know what I am going to do without any more!!! WAH!!!!!!!
Welcome to Take One of May’s Secret Subject Swaps. This week, 12 brave bloggers picked a secret subject for someone else and were assigned a secret subject to interpret in their own style. Today we are all simultaneously divulging our topics and submitting our posts.

You’ve just received a call-you’ve won the trip of your dreams! Describe what it would be-where you’d want to go, what you’d want to do, and who’d you want to do it with. Use your imagination-anything can be possible here!
WOW!!! I won a trip!!! SOOOOO COOOOOOL!!!!! The Hubby and I have NEVER been on a real vacation. NEVER!!!! We taken a day trip here and there but that is it.
I LOOOOVE to travel to new places. I LOOOOOVE seeing new things.
My absolute DREAM trip would be a couple of months visiting pretty much every European nation. I would see absolutely everything that I could. Castles, historical sites, villages, big cities. EVERYTHING!!!!!
I hope this trip comes with some money, too… I would want TONS of souvenirs!!! And not the cheap touristy stuff!!!!! 😉
AND I would take the whole family. Yes, I do dream of getting away for a bit without the kids but I know myself… I wouldn’t have as good a time without them as I would have experiencing everything with them.
I think I will go be depressed now. There’s no way my dream vacation will EVER happen. Well, unless I win the lottery… but that would mean I would have to actually play the lottery…. LOL
Don’t forget to check out all the amazing bloggers that are taking part in the Secret Subject Swap!!! I ❤ them all!!!!!!
