It has been quite a few months since I’ve posted my reading list! This list stretched back into November.I have some GOOD ones for you!!

OH!! CRUD!! I’ve forgotten to add the first 2 books of this year to my Alphabet challenge! Good grief! I need to remember to do that! LOL

Just like music and movies, I have very eclectic taste in books. I’ll read just about anything, just not tooooo much non-fiction. It can be so dry. BLECK!!!!

I sure do love me some JD Robb!!! The In Death series is one of my all time favorites!!! I am all the way to #8 now!! YAY!! And each one has been just as good as the last. LOVE THEM!!!!

This is another crime series that I really like. I heard that it’s nothing like the TV show but that’s OK by me. I always prefer the books anyway! 😉

This is one of my favorite cozy series. Let’s face it, Oscar the pig/gargoyle just makes the books! LOL

This was a new author for me and I was pleasantly surprised. I LOOOOOOOVED this book!!!! At first you think you know, then you’re not too sure, then you think maybe you know again…. I love a book that keeps you guessing!

This book was AWESOME and quite perfect for this time of year. It’s great if you’ve ever lived in both the north AND the south but still very good and funny even if you’ve lived in the same place all of your life.

I have the sequel around here somewhere but I’m afraid to read it. LOL I liked the first one so much that I’m afraid the second might disappoint.

OMG!!!! Probably my 2nd favorite book of 2013. And my 3rd all time favorite series.

Stephanie is back to her car demolishing, crazy hijinks and I LOVED every second of it.  Plus, there’s Kevin the Giraffe! 😉

I read this one in less than 24 hours. It was a very fast, very entertaining YA book. Not the greatest book that I have ever read but a good one nonetheless.

Now for the one I didn’t like so much……

I realllllly wanted to like this one more. I very much enjoyed the first one. SIGH…. The second one just didn’t live up to it. Now I’m afraid to try the 3rd!

It was just sooooo boring. Maybe I was in the wrong mood, I don’t know…. I just couldn’t wait to put it down and be DONE!!!

The Book I Just Started

Yes, that is the same Julian Fellowes of Downton Abbey fame. I’m only 9 pages in, though… I’ve just been too tired to read much lately. Or maybe it’s also because I have been binge watching Homeland! I am now I HUGE fan of the show and have started the 3rd season. So far I am a little disappointed! Get on with it already!!!! LOL

Anyway, I challenged myself to read 100 books this year. So far I’ve only read 2. Not too bad! 😉

HAVE FUN READING!!!!!

By the way, I tried a new way of linking the book covers. If it doesn’t work, I’ll come back in and fix them all.

My Recent Reading List

I have been doing a bit better with my reading lately, getting in a few more books than my recent average. I thought I would share that list with you.

(The pics are clickable links to Amazon)

I picked this up at the library Monday (I am also writing this on Monday. Shhhh!!) I’m not very far into it but I am already hooked. AND I’ve already been creeped out!!! LOVE IT!!!

One word, read NOS4A2 by Joe Hill before reading this to “get” a certain part. 😉

NOT FOR THE FAINT OF HEART! 😉

A WONDERFUL historical fiction book about Catherine the Great.

We follow the life of a bookbinders daughter as she enters the court of Empress Elisabeth. She is in the court when a young Sophie (soon to be Catherine) comes to be the bride of Elizabeth’s nephew and next in line to the throne.

Absolutely captivating, but I wish I had known that the 2nd book wasn’t out yet!!! LOL

I absolutely LOVED this book!!! I never realized how little I actually knew about the French Revolution!

I have such a great respect for Madame Tussaud and all that she endured.

This is absolutely the BEST titled book! I was completely and totally CREEPED out the entire time!!!

Unfortunately, I didn’t realize until a few minutes ago that this was a sequel! WAH!!!! I had a feeling that I was missing a few things in the story, mainly to do with a couple of the lead characters. BUT even though I missed the first book, this was a very captivating and scary story!

We’ve all heard the story of Godiva’s naked ride but do you know WHY she did it?? I have never heard the WHY of it. Not to say that this book is accurate, but now I have an IDEA of the WHY! 😉 It was a very good story! I feel in love with the main characters and could barely put this book down.

Having Downton Abbey withdrawals???? Then this book is for YOU!!!!!

I screamed and cried in frustration all throughout this book!!!! I was aching to find out more when I closed the book. NOW I see that there are sequels!!! YAY!!! Thank you, Amazon! LOL

There are more… LOTS more…. If you want a longer list just click on my Goodreads box over on the right side. 😉

HAVE FUN READING!!!

What I’ve Been Reading

Yesterday I told you how we are down to one computer. That’s left  A LOT of down time for me… I SHOULD be sewing or planning the next school year but I’ve been reading instead. LOL We now have the best library system that I have EVER seen, and I have seen a lot. I am taking full advantage of it and reading books that have been on my wish list for a very long time. Well, I’ve also found a couple of new books that I didn’t know about.

Here’s a list of the books that I have read in the past week.

NOS4A2

NOS4A2 by Joe Hill

WOW!! If there was ever any doubt that Joe Hill was Stephen King’s son, it would be gone before the end of this book! I compared it to a mix of It and Christine but I think I would also mix in ‘Salem’s Lot. Major creep fest!!!

His Majesty's Hope

His Majesty’s Hope (Maggie Hope, Bk 3) by Susan Elia MacNeal

This is the 3rd in the series (the 4th isn’t out yet BOOO).  If you like history and mysteries, then this series if for you! It is SOOOOO addictive! Set in WWII, Maggie Hope must solve some serious mysteries while protecting the British empire.

The Body at the Tower (The Agency, #2)

The Body at the Tower (The Agency, Bk 2) by Y. S. Lee

Another historical mystery and another female lead. This one is set in the Victorian Era and is NOT your average YA novel. LOVE this series!!!!

Supernaturally (Paranormalcy, #2)

Supernaturally (Paranormalcy, Bk 2) by Kiersten White

This is the 2nd in a YA paranormal series. It’s not your typical YA. It’s very funny and suspenseful!!! Very intelligent. A lot of YA authors dumb their books down. I think that is a HUGE disservice and LOVE it when a YA author passes on the dumbing down.

Glory in Death (In Death, #2)

Glory in Death (In Death, Bk 2) by J. D. Robb (Nora Roberts)

This is the 2nd In Death book written by Nora Roberts as J. D. Robb. In the 1st book you are introduced to Eve Dallas in the year 2058. Eve is a tough as nails police detective with a heart of gold and a haunting past. Not to mention the flaming hot Rourke!!! 😉

The Diviners (The Diviners, #1)

The Diviners by Libba Bray

This is a book that I found by accident. LOL I LOVED Libba Bray’s Gemma Doyle series so when I saw this sitting on the library shelf I grabbed it right up!!!  I’m only about 100 pages in but I am already CREEPED completely OUT!!! LOL  I can’t wait to see where it goes.

After that I have a LONG list just sitting and waiting. The hardest part is figuring out which one to read next! LOL

I seem to have lost some of my creativity lately. Not sure what is going on. I need some inspiration, people!!!!! LOL

What I’m Reading and What I’m Going to Read

When I asked what people would like to see  more of on my blog some said MORE BOOKS!! LOL So, here you go!!

I have 2 swap books that need to be read and mailed by the 21st and one by the 26th (I think…. ) for swap games at PaperbackSwap. Wish me luck!! Usually that wouldn’t have been a hard thing but for the past year I have had a hard time settling down to read. There’s just always too much to do! LOL

Here are the books in the order that I will be reading them:

The Fetch

The Fetch

I have just started The Fetch and I can say that it is already completely different than anything else I have ever read. The subject is one that I have not encountered before, although part of the setting is one of my favorites, Imperial Russia (at least so far).

The writing is very descriptive without being overly flowery (I can’t stand that sometimes).

This is a new author for me! YAY!!!

Wicked in Your Arms

Wicked in Your Arms: Forgotten Princesses

Another new to me author! 2 in a row!

Heartless

Heartless (The Parasol Protectorate)

Now, here is a favorite author!! Heartless is book 4 in the Parasol Protectorate series by Gail Carriger. I have loved the previous 3 books and have the 5th on my TBR (to be read) mountain. 😉

This series is full of action, intrigue and humor. It is definitely steampunk but don’t let that throw you off if you aren’t interested in that genre. This series is mystery, romance, historical and paranormal all rolled into one.  Alexia is definitely a character that you won’t soon forget and one of my favorites. She reminds me a lot of Amelia Peabody from the book series by Elizabeth Peters.

Meanwhile, I am busy thinking up my next design for Project Run & Play. I think I know what I want to do, I just need to get it done! LOL  The dress I will be making will be one that I send to Pam for dresses for South Africa. Cailey may end up a little disappointed since I will be using her as a model but they fabric was donated. I can always make her a similar one later. 😉
