Yes, I’m a Little Squirrely…… The Squirrely Blogger Award

But NOT in this way –

Used to describe someone of questionable character.
I wouldn’t give my money to that dude he’s kind of Squirrely.

Adjective: 1. mildly insane2. unpredictable and jumpy, often in a cowardly way

3. nutty; resembling a squirrel looking for nuts

I’m more of #3…… 😉 (definitions by the Urban Dictionary)

ANYWAY, I say that to say this –

I have been awarded the Squirrely Blogger Award, made by the awesome Menopausal Mother and given to me by the most wonderful Karen from Baking in a Tornado!

Squirrely Blogger Award

According to the rules I need to tell y’all 7 – 10 quirky things about me. Hmm… That’s going to be hard to whittle down…..

1 – I HATE feet. Yes, those things on the ends of your legs. YUCKY YUCKY YUCKY!!!!!!

2 – I must hang alllllll the clothes in the same direction or chaos will ensue!

3 – Even though I love shoes and hate feet you will mostly find me barefooted or in my Crocs flip-flops.

4 – I can wiggle my ears! Deanna was so upset that Cailey and I could do it that she tried and tried until she could do it, too.

5 – I have 3 piercings in one ear, 2 in the other and one in my nose. I used to have my eyebrow pierced years ago and I have been thinking about having it redone.

6 – I would LOVE to have a tattoo!! I just can’t bring myself to spend the money…… CRAZY how much they cost!

7 – I love football!! I am so ready for the season to start!!! Let’s go STEELERS!!! Let’s go MOUNTAINEERS!!! I will also be cheering the Titans and the Fighting Irish, just as long as the Titans aren’t playing the Steelers and the Irish aren’t playing the Mountaineers.

Ok, that’s enough about me. Anymore and you really will think I’m nuts! 😉

Now for the 7 – 10 bloggers that I am passing this on to, always the hardest part for me. Who wants it??? 😉

If you’re reading this and blog, YOU’RE SQUIRRELY!!!!! Now, pass it on!!!!!!!!!

15 Day Blogger Challenge – Getting to Know the Blogger – The Rest of the Days

SO sorry to have taken so many days off. Been sorta crazy around here! But in a good way. 😉

Now for the rest of the days!! LOL I noticed that I skipped on a while back so I will add it now. 😉

Why did you start blogging and what is your blog about?

3 blogs you visit and read enthusiastically.

Social Networks/Blog Communities you want others to know you’re a part of.

Closing and any upcoming posts or raffles you would like to share with us.

I started my blog to have a place to share my sewing and homeschooling ideas. I have to admit, I share way more sewing than homeschooling…. LOL But we haven’t actually been doing a lot of schooling lately, either… We will be starting back up on Monday!!!!! YILES!!! I don’t think I am quite ready….. LOL

3 blogs, just 3???? LOL  There are SOOOOOOO many that I read that I would feel bad just naming a few. I wouldn’t know how to pick! So, I would say a good start would be to check out all the blog buttons I have over on the right. If a blog is there, it’s because I like it. LOL

Well, I’m on Facebook and Twitter, although I still don’t “get” Twitter. I would LOVE to add a GFC button but they stopped doing it for blogs other than Blogger back in March. :/

Upcoming posts?? Welllll, I think that today I will be working on a new dress for Cailey. I know for sure that it will be knit and probably grey…… Other than that I’m not sure yet. BUT there will be a tutorial! LOL

OH!!! And in the near future I will be making Cailey and Colin both Christmas shirts. So, more tutorials!!!!! 😉

I will also be putting together a Christmas Unit for both Cailey and Colin, mostly using units that I already have, but I will be sure to share all of that with you.

Oh! I read a GREAT book lately!!!! It was Something Witchy by AJ Myers.  I left a review for it over on Amazon if you would like to check it out. 😉

15 DAY BLOGGER CHALLENGE – Getting to Know the Blogger – Days 12 & 13

12. What are a couple of your favorite blog tools that you use?

PicMonkey, hands down. I LOOOOOOOVE PicMonkey!!!! It is so much fun! You can add (oops had a typo there LOL) sooooo many cute and cool things to your pictures! I am thinking about using it if I make Christmas cards this year instead of buying them! LOL

13. Your top 5 posts and why you think they were successful.

My top posts are always my tutorials. I can submit them to so many different sites and get them out there. has a newsletter and a few of my tutorials have been featured in them. You also have and

I think my recent lack of tutorials is probably to blame for the deep fall in views. 😦 I haven’t added a new tutorial since September! YILES!!! I am SOOOOO sorry!!!!

BUT I will be making up for that this week. 😉

I finished my sewing room/library yesterday! YAY!!!!

I am sooooo excited to have my own space!!!! 🙂 I thought I might have to fight The Hubby for it but once I explained to him how I would need that space to possibly start my own business and therefore maybe make some money, he gave it up peaceably…. LOL

Here are the fabric choices for my new tutorial –

And here are the cut pieces –

Our old stained and beat up kitchen table is my new cutting table! 🙂 YAY!!!!!!

So, stick around! I hope to be posting the new tutorial tomorrow!!!!! I guess I need to get sewing… 😉

OH!! Here are a couple of pics of Bonnie and Cloud. They are now nicely adjusted to their new home.

Are you still out there, Carol??? I thought you might be wondering where my cat pics were. 😉

OH! It feels SOOOOOOOO good to get back to sewing!!! I freaked out a little when my all purpose foot went missing but Walmart saved the day! LOL They had ONE kind of foot. ONE!!! Praise the Lord, it fit my machine! LOL

Oh, and if you would like to check out my tutorials, just click the box at the top of the page!! I apologize, though… WordPress used to just have the links under the Tutorial Header but now it’s just a long line of the tutorial posts. :/ You now just have to scroll through them all. ARGH!!!!!!!

15 Day Blogger Challenge – Getting to Know the Blogger – Days 10 & 11

The numbers are so messed up on the first post for this challenge! LOL There are definitely more than 15 questions… 😉

Today’s are –

What are some of your fears?

What are your goals? Parenting, Life, Career?

Well, as a mother I am sure you can guess my biggest fears…. We will just leave it at that, shall we?????

I also have ophidiophobia, the fear of snakes! BLECK!!! I can’t even watch them on Animal Planet without having a nightmare!!! And I have developed a fear of heights over the years. It’s weird. I can ride most roller coasters but I can’t get on a Ferris wheel!!!! LOL

Goals –

Well, again, as a mother my main goal would be to raise children that believe in the saving power of Christ’s blood. Next would be that they are also healthy and happy. Success is in the eye of the beholder, so I want them to be successful in their own eyes. 😉

I want to grow my blog and start selling my designs/creations.  I was doing really well with the blog up until I stopped coming up with my own tutorials! LOL I was averaging well over 200 views a day and over 2,000 on my busiest. Now I can barely hit 75 views a day! WAH!!!! I was thinking that I would be able to get back to sewing this week but now my regular foot for my machine is MISSING!!!!! It’s just GONE!!!! WAH!!!!! Not sure how long it will take me to replace it! There isn’t a Joann’s, Hancock’s or sewing machine repair place anywhere near here!! I set up my sewing space yesterday and that’s when I noticed it was GONE!!! SIGH…… There is a small hope that it might be somewhere in the sewing room but I seriously doubt. Keep your fingers crossed for me!!! I have presents I need to make!

You should have heard me trying to explain to The Hubby what a foot is and why it’s so important. 😉

A short term goal would be to FINALLLLLY get ALLLLLL the boxes unpacked!!! LOL I am getting close, though!!! I am having a space issue, though. Too much stuff and not enough places to put it all!!

15 Day Blogger Challenge – Days 8 & 9

8. Tell us a bit about your family!

9. What are your hobbies?

Hmmm.. I just realized that the numbers on the questions are off. That will give me MORE than 15 days! LOL

My family!

I’ll start with The Hubby. He was born and raised in Nashville. He had only lived in Tennessee until we moved to Virginia 6 1/2 years ago. I thought it was an absolute miracle that he actually took the job in a different state! LOL And now look at us! We’re in Georgia!

We have been married for almost 20 years. He was 21 and I was 18. OH! His Birthday was yesterday. He turned 41 but he LIES about his age! LOL He has some of the kids convinced that he turned 40…. Well, I know better… I have his birth certificate! LOL 😉

He is an avid football fan. His favorite teams are Green Bay and Alabama. He loves to deer hunt and fish.

Oh! He LOOOOOVES B movies! LOL I have to admit, that used to drive me crazy. 😉 But now he has taken pity on me and doesn’t make me watch them with him. LOL Although every once in a while I still will just to make him happy.

Next up is Jacob. My first born. My crazy child! I miss him sooooooooo much. He called yesterday to wish The Hubby a happy Birthday. I was SOOOOO happy to get to talk to him for a little bit. He has to work the day before and the day after Thanksgiving so we won’t be seeing him. WAH!!!! 😦 But he promised to come home for Christmas!!!

Jacob  is my wild child. He is the main reason I have soooo much grey hair!!! LOL I found my first one when I was 21!! You see, Jacob has ADHD and was into EVERYTHING when he was little. I remember one day I turned the washing machine on, put the detergent in and went off to get the dirty clothes. When I came back there was Jacob IN the washing machine! Soap suds had completely soaked into his pajamas!! He was 1 1/2!!!! Then not too long after that I couldn’t find him. I was looking all over the house. Then I hear a faint noise coming from the kitchen. He had crawled into the dryer and couldn’t get out. He was always climbing something or getting away from me. SHEW!!!! And he was always getting hurt. That boy had NO fear!! A complete dare devil! He had to get 10 staples in his foot when he was in 3rd grade! He broke his hand playing football. He had to have his forehead glued once and another time had to have his hair tied together because the doctor didn’t want to put stitches in his head!!!!

Yep… The main reason I have so many grey hairs!! LOL

Then we have Joshua. He’s my genius. Seriously, the boy has a near photographic memory, which is good AND bad. Academics have always been very easy for him and it has made him a little bit lazy. LOL He just wants to read and not work his brain.

He has gotten SOOOOOO tall!!!! He’s now taller than The Hubby!

We Joshua was little he was severely speech delayed. When he was 3 he could only say about 5 words, so he made up his own sign language. He was also VERY attached to me. I couldn’t leave the room without him freaking out.

Now, he loves to read and play video games. Those are his two favorite things to do.

Next is Deanna, my drama queen. LOL Oh, she would kill me if she knew I wrote that!!! 😉 She was very quiet and well behaved until she hit 5 yrs old…. LOL Then it was drama, drama, drama. Even in 1st grade she would argue with me over what she was wearing to school!!! LOL She would love for me to fix her hair. She always knew exactly how she wanted it.

Now, she is a pod person. 😉 That’s my term for teenagers. You know, one day you have your sweet little child and then BAM! They are rolling their eyes and sighing at everything you say…. It’s like Invasion of the Body Snatchers, that’s where pod people come in. LOL

She has a very caring heart and can be very sweet, when she wants to be. LOL The rest of the time is filled with attitude! LOL She is studying toward being an archaeologist.

Next we have my little Cailey-Bird. She is so sweet (she hasn’t hit the pod people stage yet).  She loves to draw and is pretty good at it, too! She LOOOOOVES animals! She used to think she wanted to be a vet but changed her mind when she found out all the yucky stuff she would have to do. Now she wants to own a pet grooming business. I have to say, that would be PERFECT for her!

When she was little she used to put the plastic rings from milk jugs on her wrists like bracelets! LOL It took me forever to get her out of that!

She loves to learn as long as she doesn’t have to do any actual reading or writing…. LOL She’s good at math but hates the tediousness of it. Y’know, the writing…. LOL  But she loves to do projects and arts and crafts.

Last but not least we have Colin. Our big surprise. LOL I had my tubes tied after we had Cailey but God wasn’t finished with our family yet. 😉

He was born 5 weeks early and was sooooo tiny!!! He came so fast that The Hubby couldn’t make it to the hospital in time. I had him all by myself. He weighed 5 lbs 10 oz. Praise God, he didn’t even have to go into the NICU! But he had a lot of jaundice.

From the moment he was born he didn’t want to be put down. I had to hold him constantly. As soon as I would lay him down in his bassinet he would wake right back up and start crying. So, I got a baby carrier and started wearing him. LOL He has always slept in our bed and never wants to leave my side.

He is very strong willed and wants things to be exactly the way he thinks they ought to be! LOL SHEW!!! That can make things quite difficult at times and keeps me on my toes, for sure!!!

He has had a fascination with dinosaurs since he was 1 1/2 and says he wants to be a paleontologist.

Well, that’s my family! My big, crazy, loving family. I would’t change a thing for the world!

Oh!! I left out the cats! 😉

Pammy is the oldest at just over 2. Poor Pammy, she has a nervous condition….. And she loves The Hubby the most.

Bonnie is next and is just over 1. She is soooo cuddly and fluffy!!!

The we have Cloud. Our little kitty that we found at the dump. She is such a sweetie!!! And she also loves The Hubby the most… The Hubby is not really a cat lover but he has a soft spot for Cloud.

Next question-

Well, I think you probably know what my hobbies are… LOL Sewing and reading. Well, crafting, too. I love to make things. I was making my own soap for a while. SO MUCH FUN!!!! I would like to get back into that if I can find the right ingredients around here…..  I like making cards, too. I haven’t done it in a while though and probably need to stock up on supplies for that, too.

Well, that’s it!! Now I have to go try to find Pammy. We let her out for a little bit and she ran into the bushes…. SIGH….. No time to proofread! Please, excuse all my typos!!!

15 Day Blogging Challenge – Getting to Know the Blogger – Days 6 & 7

Today’s questions are –

6. Where have you worked?

7. Has your life gone the way you expected it?

I have mostly worked as a stay at home mom but I have had a few outside of the home jobs.

My very first job, other than babysitting, was at Subway. I hated it. I came home smelling of food everyday. The dogs in the neighborhood would follow me up the driveway! LOL

I also worked at a place that made cassette tapes and CDs. CDs were still fairly new so I mostly worked on the cassette tape assembly line.

I worked at Dollar General for a whole day. LOL The Hubby didn’t like the hours they had given me so I quit. When I went in to interview they said I would only have to work one day on the weekends and every other holiday. Well, they had me working both Saturday AND Sunday AND the 4th of July all in the same week.

My last outside the home job was at a place that made metal fans and metal racks for stoves and refrigerators. I learned how to use a spot welder. It was an OK job and paid fairly well, but I missed my kids soooo much.

After that I stuck to in-home child care until we moved to VA. After I started homeschooling I didn’t really have the time to babysit anymore. Although, people always asked…. Oh, you stay at home all day, you must have plenty of time to watch my kids, too!

The next question is a little harder to answer…. I got married at 18 and had my first child by 19. Then by 21 and 22 I had had 2 more children. LOL I certainly didn’t plan to have 3 so quickly but I wouldn’t change it for the world. We never planned on having 5 kids but again, I wouldn’t change it ever!!!!! If money wasn’t an issue we probably would have had at least one more child. LOL So I guess you could say that even though we didn’t plan our lives, God did and I am perfectly content to be where we are. God knows best and we follow where He leads. Even through trials and tribulations, He is there for us, guiding us and comforting us. I wouldn’t have it any other way.

Did I do things in my past that I am not proud of? Sure, hasn’t everyone? But I have a great, big God and His forgiveness covers all. The blood of my savior washed me cleaned!

Kind of a short one today. :/

But I have to add that I am feeling better so I have a long day of further unpacking to do. Yippee…. I am so excited… LOL I swear, the kids’ books are going to be the death of me! LOL

15 Day Blogger Challenge – Getting to Know the Blogger – Days 4 & 5

I decided to combine a couple of days here and there. I *think* my Dad and step-mother are coming to visit next week and I won’t have much time to reallllllly get in deep with the topics. 😉

So for today’s questions I have :

4. What type of student were you in school?

5. Who were your closest friends as a teenager?

Oh, boy… that first one…. Umm… OK…. LOL Well, in K-4th I was MUCH more interested in socializing. I got into SOOOOO much trouble for talking. Big surprise, huh?? LOL And like I said before, my cousin Amy was in all the same classes as I was in those grades as long as we were in the same school. I can remember actually throwing a fit once when I came back from Indiana and was put in a different class. That did NOT go well and the principal gave in and moved me to Amy’s class. 😉 I can remember having to “stand on the wall” for recess many, many, MANY times for talking. “Standing on the wall” meant that you stood with your back to the schoolyard and facing the wall and heard everyone else having fun during recess. It was the WORST punishment. I can remember after having a few days in a row of standing on the wall and coming home to say, “Well, if you’ve seen one wall, you’ve seen them all.”

5th – 7th was a bit different. I ended up in a lot of advanced classes and did very well. Then I moved back to WV in 8th and all the advanced classes were full. I remember I had to take typing. OH MY GOSH! I was horrible!!!! And the teacher was sooooo mean!! I think that was the first time I had ever made a D.

In 9th grade I went into Honors classes. And then I bombed…. You see, I had discovered SKIPPING CLASS!!!!  Yep…. I was a truant! As long as I showed up to class I did pretty well. LOL But at this point I HATED school. AND I would much rather socialize….. LOL

So glad my kids don’t read my blog…… LOL

And now I homeschool. 😉

Now, on to the friends question. My 3 biggest partners in crime were Tina, Traci and Nikki. Oh, my goodness, we got up to some T-R-O-U-B-L-E. LOL

I practically lived at Traci’s house for a while and I literally lived at Tina’s. Tina’s mom, Momma Linda, threw my 16th Birthday party for me. I will never forget that. It was a blast!

I remember the first big dance of high school, the Snowball Dance. I was soooo nervous that I didn’t eat a bite all day. Then my date stood me up. He was such a jerk. BUT I had a killer dress so I went along as a third wheel with Traci and her date. And before the night was over I ended up with my first ever concussion. We went to the ladies’ room to smoke and I felt a little dizzy and sick to my stomach. Before I could call out to Tra to wait, I had passed out, hitting my head on the cinder block wall and again on the concrete floor. I scared Tra to death! She thought I was dead because my eyes were still open. She ran off to get the principal and by the time they got back I was already trying to stand up and figure out what the heck happened. The school called my mom and off to the ER I went.

Concerts and parties and hanging out at the mall (sometimes with day glow hair) and dances and trips to Camden Park. OH!! And the skating rink and dancing at River’s End! Good, good times.

I miss my friends.

I have to take a little break from the challenge here and tell you what happened to me yesterday. Oh, boy!!! I was finishing up 2 days of working on a certain bookshelf when the whole thing fell on top of me! I was sitting in the floor in front of the shelf and took some books off to switch them out with a different set, when the whole thing leaned forward and landed smack on my whole body! I have 2 knots on my head, a purple bruise under one eye and several other bruises and scratches. The shelf is 5 ft tall and 6 ft long. I had it packed tight with the kids’ science and history books and it was nailed to wall!!!! SIGH…. But if it had to happen I am glad that it happened to me and not one of the kids. All that work down the toilet. I took the rest of yesterday off from unpacking and I will probably do the same today. The dizziness and the aches and pains remain. AND I am in the middle of a HUGE fibro flare. SIGH…. Praying, praying, praying that it will go away soon!!!!! I still have so much to do!!! I feel like I will never get this house in order!

15 Day Blogger Challenge – Getting to Know the Blogger – Day 3

What’s some of your favorite memories from childhood?

Oh, this is an easy one! LOL

I have no brothers or sisters but I do have cousins! Lots and lots and lots of cousins and my favorite memories revolve around them.

My Mother was one of 15 kids and my Dad was one of 9. I have cousins that I don’t even remember ever meeting! BUT I spent a ton of time with Amy, Ginny, Sandy, Gary, Andrea and Dawn-Marie.

I remember sitting on Amy’s dog’s house planning to runaway because we were upset over some small thing. LOL

I remember being at my Grandma Blevins’ house with my cousins and wishing The Uncles would hurry up and finish eating Christmas dinner so we could get to  the visit from Santa and the present opening!

I remember being in one of the bedrooms at my Grandma Blevins’ house with my cousin Gary and we swore we heard Santa’s sleigh bells! Grandma was trying to get us to calm down and go to sleep. LOL

My Grandma Blevins’ house had 2 playrooms and the cousins and I spent a ton of time in them. It was always especially fun during the holidays when even more cousins were around to play with.

I remember summer vacations and renting movies with Ginny to watch at Grandma’s house. OMGOSH did we pick some clunkers! LOL But there were also our favorites that we would watch over and over again. Lost Boys, Fright Night….

I remember Grandma Blevins giving us money to walk to 7-11 to buy candy.

I remember the joy of seeing my cousins at Grandma Painter’s house. I didn’t get to spend as much time with them as I did the cousins from the other side of the family. But I do remember playing Little House on the Prairie and arguing with Dawn-Marie over who would be Laura! LOL Actually, she and I did a lot of arguing as kids! LOL Maybe because we were both the only child and were used to having things our own way?

Amy and I argued a lot, too. We were always in the same class when I was going to school in WV and we spent a lot of time together outside of school, too. She and I are still very close today, even though it’s been about 13 years since we’ve actually seen one another!

I remember when my cousin Andrea lived in Virginia with a big yard and big Irish setter to run and play with.

I remember staying the night at Ginny’s, Sandy’s and Beck’s house, listening to the radio and dancing while we did dishes and cleaned the kitchen. We would eat Ramen noodles or hot dog buns with just chili! LOL

I remember staying so many nights at Amy’s and eating Cocoa Puffs and toast for breakfast. LOL I remember Amy having every toy that I had ever wanted but she would much rather make things than play with them! LOL

I remember Gary always telling me that I couldn’t tag along because I was a girl and I couldn’t do the things the boys could do. That set me up for some DOOOOOOOZIES! LOL Like climbing up to his tree house when it wasn’t completely finished. I got stuck up there and my Mom had to find a ladder to get me down. LOL Then there was the time I decided to follow them down the cliffs…. Oh, boy!!! We made it to the bottom only to find a pack of mean dogs. Up we went again!  OH! And the time that they decided to climb into the Doberman’s pen next door……. I climb up the fence and was trying to balance on it while the dog was trying to get me. My shorts snagged on the top and when I fell…. RIP! Dumby me went in to change and then climbed that fence again! LOL That time I made it on top of the dog house but I was too short to climb onto the shed next to it. That was when the dog’s owner came out and fussed at all of us.

I remember watching MTV at Grandma’s house with Ginny and Sandy. We had certain videos that we always made fun of or ones that we knew the dance steps to.

OOOOOH!!!!! Here’s a memory for you! LOL My cousin Sandy was staying the night at my house. We had a “creek” that ran right beside it. My Mom went shopping and we decided we would go wading in the creek. When my Mom got home and saw us, she FREAKED out. Turns out it wasn’t a creek after all…. It was sewage headed to the water plant….. Yeah….. I think my skin almost melted off from the hot bath and scrubbing. Afterwards, when we were squeaky clean again, we went to sit by the “creek”…. Sandy’s shoe fell off…. Back in she went to save it! LOL

I was having a slumber party one night with some of my best friends and some of my cousins. Ginny went in the house to call the radio station and request a song. Apparently the DJ answered her call but she hung up! The rest of us were out on the porch with the radio but somehow we all KNEW it was she that had hung up!!!!! LOL

Gosh, I miss my cousins…….. So many good times. We were always there for each other.

I remember practically living at Amy’s several times. A couple of my favorite movies were first watched at her house. “It’s a Mad, Mad, Mad, Mad World” and “Savannah Smiles”.

OHH!!! Here’s another good one! LOL It must have been some sort of holiday because there were a BUNCH of us at Grandma’s house. We were all outside messing around when my cousin Gary found a baby blue jay that had fallen from the nest. Down into the woods we go….. My cousin Little Roger picked the baby bird up and the next thing I knew *I* was pecked in the head!!!! Then the momma bird pecked Gary in the head. Back up the hill we go and into the house. When we emerged we had brooms, mops and such in our hands and bowls, pots and strainers on our heads! LOL SOME of us decided we had had enough and stayed on the hill with a blanket to cover our heads with just in case…. LOL

Writing this has been a bit bittersweet. My cousins Gary and Sandy have passed away.

15 Day Blogger Challenge – Getting to Know the Blogger – Day 2

15 Day Blogger Challenge – Getting to Know the Blogger – Day 2

2. Where did you grow up? Small town or Big City?

I think it’s safe to say that I grew up all over the place! LOL MOST of my childhood was spent in the small town of Oak Hill, WV. My paternal grandparents had a house in the country and I spent a lot of time there, but like me, they moved around a lot.

I went to 11 different schools growing up and that doesn’t count bouncing back and forth between the same schools. I even went to a private school for a while.

My first school was in Oak Hill. I went to East End Elementary. It was the same school that my mother went to.  (I even had the same 2nd grade teacher she had!)

I went to 2 schools in Elkhart, IN but I have no idea what their names were. In between those 2 schools I went back to East End.

Then I went to an elementary school in Beckley, WV. I think it was Central Elementary?? And then right back to East End……

After that I went to Collins Middle School in Oak Hill.

Then it was on to Hampton, Virginia to Robert E. Lee Elementary.

After that was Margaret Allen Elementary in Nashville, TN.

Then back to Hampton, Virginia to Mary Atkins Christian School.

Then BACK to Nashville to Two Rivers Junior High.

After that I went back to Oak Hill and back to Collins Middle…. LOL Keeping up???

Then on to Oak Hill High School.

I left there and went BACK to Nashville to Glencliff High School.

After that I went BACK to Oak Hill School.

Yep. That’s 11 different schools!

The first house I can remember was in Fayetteville, WV. We stayed there until my parents split up either right before or right after I turned 5. I can’t remember exactly how old I was, just that I hadn’t started school yet. I know we were living with my Grandma when I started school.

I moved around a lot as a kid and my Mother and I lived with my Grandmother quite often. She was our refuge. We always ended up back at her house.

I used to think that it would be nice to spend my life in ONE place, but now I don’t think so. I like the adventure of new places and new things. Maybe there is a bit of gypsy in me somewhere….  None of it is scary for me since it is the way I grew up. New faces and new places. I remember all the old places and faces, though. So many have left their mark on my heart in ways they could never imagine. It is easier these days to keep up with friends in other places. I have friends and family all over the place. I wish it would have been this easy back when I was a kid! LOL

I lived with my paternal grandparents for a while growing up. I stayed with them in VA and in TN. I leaned so much on them and my maternal grandmother. They were what counted as my stability.

I guess West Virginia will always be my “home place”, though. I miss those mountains so much. It’s been about 13 yrs since I went back.  My kids have never been. Well, I take that back. Jacob was 1 when my Mother passed away and we went to Oak Hill for her funereal.  The other time we went we left the older 3 kids with a sitter, not having the younger 2 at the time. I remember as we crossed into WV from VA “Country Roads” came over the radio. It was perfect.

I hope that works.

My Mother used to tell me how she would ride her bike to watch the men build the bridge.

I have I painting of the grist mill from Babcock State Park hanging on my wall right now. 😉

A Question for My Readers

I was reading a post at another blog this morning (You Know It Happens At Your House Too) and it got me to thinking. 😉 What do YOU as my readers want to see?? I know that tutorials are a HUGE factor. In fact when I do a new tutorial my views go WAY up but when it has been a while since I have posted a new tutorial my views go WAY down. *sniff sniff* And I am at a loss as to what to write if I DON’T have a new tutorial. Does that make sense??? Sooooo, what DO you want to see?

Do you like it when I post about the crazy things my kids do? Like what Cailey said at church on Sunday that almost brought the house down?? LOL

I know Carol likes to see my cats. LOL 😉

Is just talking to you enough or should I make a bigger effort to always include some sewing/crafting/homeschooling??

Does my blog look OK?? Or should I look into changing it up some? I know the “look” of a blog can make a difference sometimes.

I am soooo new to all of this that I just really don’t know. So I thought it would be best to put it to the experts, YOU! You are the readers, you know what you want to see and read, so let me know!! Seriously, I LOOOOOOVE comments (as long as they are nice to me LOL). And even if you are criticizing me, as long as it isn’t ugly, I want to read it!! Talk to me, people!! LOL

If you DO want to read about what’s going on in my life, please proceed past this point. 😉 If not, you can stop here. LOL

For 2 Sundays in a row I have stood up in front of church to talk about Bags of Hope and Love ❤. I am SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO not a good public speaker…. Now, that being said, it would probably have been better if I had known BEFORE hand that I was going to speak. Well, OK, maybe not… I am THAT bad of a public speaker… LOL

Anyway, my pastor has been doing a series on missional living. So every Sunday he has been inviting different groups within the church to speak about their mission services. Last Sunday the GAs were invited to speak. They had just had a sleepover at the church where they packed boxes for Operation Christmas Child and then made breakfast for the church the next morning. The girls went up on stage and were supposed to sing a song they learned the night before. Well, they started out just OK… Barely singing… Sort of mumbling… You could only hear the leader of the GAs really singing. So when they were finished the pastor asked them to try again and to really sing this time. So, they started again.. More mumbling, barely singing. Then the pastor joined in! When they finished he said something about how they should sing louder or something like that, just picking at them, mind you. Then Cailey pipes up and says, “I thought were doing just fine until you ruined it.” Oh, brother!!! If everyone didn’t already know that she belongs to me I would have tried crawling under a pew!!! LOL But our pastor is used to her…. ummm…. outspokenness??? and he thinks it’s great that. SIGH… I just never know WHAT she’s gonna say next…. Afterward everyone commented about how good it was that she keeps him on his toes! LOL

We had to take our pool down. WAH!!!!!! We were unable to get a compatible pump and it turned neon green!!! YUCK!!!!! So, we took it down and will try again next year. I’m a little sad about that. I LOVED the pool!!!!

We are gearing up to start school week after next. WHAT??? WEEK AFTER NEXT???? YILES!!!!! That’s ……..SOON!!!! Good grief! Where has the summer gone??? And more important, can we get it back???? PLEASE!!!! I guess I need to solidify some real plans, huh??? Usually by this time I have all their planners filled out for at least 6 wks. I am SOOOOOO behind!!! I did try to talk the kids into doing a Jan-Sept school year but they all declined. 😦

So, note to self : GET BUSY PLANNING!!!!!! YILES!!!!

Anyone have any fun plans for the long weekend??? As far as I know we only have a Birthday party to go to Saturday. I’m going to try to talk The Hubby into cooking out at some point. Gosh, we are sooooo boring! LOL

I’m a little bit miffed… I just saw that Craft Wars didn’t tape to my DVR last night!!!! GRRR!!! Instead it looks like The Hubby taped a bunch of  UFC stuff…. GRRRR!!! I was sooooo looking forward to watching today!! It’s the only thing that makes waiting for Project Runway on Thursdays bearable!

Yep, I’m definitely booooooring….. LOL

In sewing news, I have actually started on the McCall’s M6553, and it looks GREAT so far!! I am so glad I decided to color block the front!! It’s going to look awesome!!!! After that I will be working on some things for fall from my sketches. SO excited about that!! YAY!!

So, that’s what’s up with me. What’s up with you?? And PLEASE answer my questions!! I reallllllllllllllllly want to know!!! 🙂
